Prime Damage Vs Players

Prime Damage Vs Players is a single-level Territory research in Star Trek Fleet Command that raises your ships’ base damage against player ships by 150%. It unlocks at R&D Department 25 and costs 1K Prime Particles plus 7.6M Dilithium, with 8.4 days of base research time. It is one of the largest single PvP damage bonuses you can get at that R&D level.

Prime Damage Vs Players requirements and cost

Research tree Territory
Unlocks at R&D Department 25
Research required None
Levels 1
Effect +150% base damage against player ships
Cost 1K Prime Particle, 7.6M Dilithium
Base research time 8.4 d

No research prerequisites. The Prime Particles are the real cost; the dilithium is small at R&D 25.

What Prime Damage Vs Players does

The 150% applies to your ships’ base damage whenever the target is another player’s ship, so it works in open space, in territory fights and when you hit a player who is mining. Because it lands on base damage, every other damage bonus you have is applied on top of a bigger number. That is why a single level here shifts PvP fights more than most ten-level lines do.

Prime Particles and the Territory prime research

Prime Particles are the particle used for prime Territory research. Three Territory nodes cost 1K each, so the particles you collect have to be split between them:

Research Effect Unlocks at Cost Base time
Prime Damage Vs Players +150% base damage against player ships R&D 25 1K Prime Particle, 7.6M Dilithium 8.4 d
Prime Protected Cargo +100% base Protected Cargo R&D 25 1K Prime Particle, 7.6M Dilithium 8.4 d
Prime Capture Node Damage +150% base damage while occupying a Capture Node R&D 35 1K Prime Particle, 555.5M Dilithium 75.4 d

If you fight other players, take Prime Damage Vs Players first. If you mostly mine and get raided, Prime Protected Cargo protects more of each haul. Prime Capture Node Damage only pays off when your alliance contests capture nodes.

Other prime research for PvP

Several other prime projects in the Combat and Galaxy trees target player fights. They use their own particles, so they do not compete with the Territory ones for Prime Particles.

Research Tree What it does Unlocks at Levels Cost to max
Prime Cloaked Warfare Galaxy +150% base damage against player ships while cloaked R&D 30 1 3K 5★ Uncommon Refined Crystal, 67M Dilithium
Prime Battleship Wrecking Combat Increases base weapon damage against Battleships while fighting other players R&D 35 1 55.6M Dilithium, 1K Prime Particle Key
Prime Explorer Wrecking Combat Increases base weapon damage against Explorers while fighting other players R&D 35 1 55.6M Dilithium, 1K Prime Particle Key
Prime Interceptor Wrecking Combat Increases base weapon damage against Interceptors while fighting other players R&D 35 1 55.6M Dilithium, 1K Prime Particle Key
Prime PvP Damage Resistance Combat Decreases the enemy player’s base weapon damage (not during station defense) R&D 35 2 2K Prime PvP Damage Resistance Particle
Prime Weapons Drain Combat Decreases the enemy player’s base weapon damage (not during station defense) R&D 42 2 1.5K Prime Weapons Drain

The Prime Particle Key is the particle for the PvP damage prime research, which is the three Wrecking nodes above. The Wrecking nodes add damage against one hull type each, while Prime Damage Vs Players covers every player ship at once.

Is Prime Damage Vs Players worth it?

If you fight other players, this is a priority purchase at R&D 25. Even players who avoid PvP get value from it when they are attacked while mining and fight back. Check the PvP level bands to see who can attack you at your level. The rest of the branch is on the Territory Research guide, and the Wrecking and drain research are on the Combat Research guide. Prime Cloaked Warfare is in the Galaxy tree.
