Major Discontent is a five-part Deep Space Nine mission chain in Star Trek Fleet Command. It opens with a meeting with Captain Sisko at Deep Space 9 in Bajor, sends you after Major Kira, and has you liaise with both the Bajoran Resistance and the Cardassians before you report back. Every part is recommended for level 34, and warp to complete is 25 except for Part 3 at warp 5. The headline reward is Changeling Kira shards in Parts 1, 3 and 5, eight in total. Budget for heavy donations, including 22M Parsteel in Part 3.

Major Discontent Part 1
You meet Captain Sisko at Deep Space 9 for a meeting with Starfleet Command, which is interrupted by an unmarked vessel at the edge of the system. Everything happens in Bajor.

Major Discontent Part 2
Major Kira has gone missing, and her trail leads to a monastery on Bajor. A drone stands between you and her, and once it is down you beam her aboard. Like Part 1, the whole part stays inside Bajor, so it is a quick run once you are in the system.

Major Discontent Part 3
Kira takes you to her Resistance contacts in Kejal. This is the shortest trip in the chain at warp 5, but it asks for the biggest donation: 22M Parsteel before the meeting can go ahead, plus a fight to keep prying eyes away.

Major Discontent Part 4
Next you open talks with the Cardassians in Myyric. The talks go badly enough that you have to defend yourself, and the part also asks you to expend 650,000 Dilithium before you return to Kira in Kejal.

The chain ends back at Deep Space 9. You meet Odo, investigate Deep Space 9, donate 2M Tritanium and report to Captain Sisko. There is no combat in this part.

Tips for completing Major Discontent
Resources are the real gate in this chain. Part 3 needs 22M Parsteel, Part 4 needs 650,000 Dilithium and Part 5 needs 2M Tritanium. The chain gives much of it back: Parts 1 and 2 together pay about 4.9 million Parsteel and 425,000 Dilithium before you reach those costs, and Part 3 returns 11,044,000 Parsteel once you finish it. You still need to have 22M Parsteel on hand at the Part 3 donation. If you are short, finish Parts 1 and 2, then pause before Part 3 and save up; the Part 2 reward alone covers close to a quarter of the cost.
Combat is light. Parts 1 to 4 each have a single fight, all between roughly 647,000 and 673,000 strength, and Part 5 has none. A level 34 ship that beats the unmarked vessel in Part 1 is ready for the rest.
Warp is easy to plan. Four parts finish at warp 25 and Part 3 at warp 5, with most objectives in Bajor, Kejal and Myyric.

Are the Major Discontent rewards worth it?
Yes, if Changeling Kira is on your list. Eight of her shards across three parts is the main payout, backed by an Assembly Medal, 300 Premium Recruit Tokens, more than 1.2 million Dilithium, about 6.5 million Tritanium and nearly 16 million Parsteel. The 22M Parsteel donation in Part 3 is the one hard cost. If you can afford it, the chain is short and the fights are mild, so the shards come quickly for a level 34 player.
