Lethean Marauder

The Lethean Marauder is a Neutral hostile in Star Trek Fleet Command that spawns at levels 40 and 41 as an Explorer-class ship. You find it in the Fafniri and YoDSutlj NaQ systems, both sitting at warp 50. Destroying it drops 4-star Broken Explorer Parts. Because it flies an Explorer hull, bring a Battleship and the fight goes quickly.

How to beat the Lethean Marauder

The Lethean Marauder only appears as an Explorer, so bring a Battleship. In the combat triangle a Battleship out-damages an Explorer, which gives you cleaner kills and less repair time between runs. There is only one hull variant across both levels, so you never have to swap ship class as you move from level 40 to 41. A Survey ship barely fights, so leave your miners at home for this target.

Warp 50 puts the Lethean Marauder well into mid-game territory. Your Battleship needs the tier and the warp range to reach it, and it needs enough hull and shield health to trade blows through a sustained fight. That matters here because the Marauder has no special combat ability and no listed weakness, so the encounter is a straight damage race. Whoever puts out and absorbs more damage wins, which is exactly the matchup a Battleship is built for against an Explorer.

For crew, the principle matters more than any single lineup: run a captain that raises your weapon damage against hostiles, then fill the other seats with officers that add damage or shield mitigation. The right names at level 40-41 depend on where you are in the game, and the best picks change as the meta moves. Check the current Officer Tier List for up-to-date recommendations rather than locking into one crew. Match warp, bring the counter hull, and let your Battleship do the work.

Where to find the Lethean Marauder

The Lethean Marauder clusters in deep space at warp 50, which puts it out of reach until your ships can jump that far. Both spawn systems carry it at the same two levels, so there is no low-versus-high split to plan around. Set your warp range to 50 and head to either system below.

Rewards and what it drops

The Lethean Marauder is a source of 4-star Broken Explorer Parts, so it fits a farm focused on building and upgrading Explorer-class ships. Broken parts are the raw form you collect from hostiles and then turn into the finished ship parts your blueprints and tier-ups call for, so a run against the Marauder pays off any time an Explorer project is stuck waiting on 4-star materials. Each kill also awards ship XP, which climbs slightly from level 40 to 41, so grinding here levels the Battleship you brought while you stock up on parts.

Lethean Marauder stats

Stats climb steeply from one level to the next, so the level 41 spawn hits noticeably harder than the level 40.

Level Total strength Hull HP Shield HP Attack Defense Ship XP
40 3,598,569 1,651,699 2,102,163 1,157,573 564,065 1,502
41 4,339,888 1,974,818 2,513,406 1,412,386 683,390 1,625

Lethean Marauder firing pattern

The Lethean Marauder carries three Energy weapons that all fire every round after a one-round warm-up, so its damage lands steadily rather than in bursts. Plan your mitigation for a sustained fight, and expect the occasional critical hit to spike the incoming damage.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 3 72,054–88,063 Every round 10% (1.8x)

The Letheans in Star Trek

The Letheans are a species best known from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, where a Lethean named Altovar attacked Dr. Julian Bashir in the episode “Distant Voices.” They are telepaths, and a Lethean can strike an opponent’s mind directly, leaving the victim comatose or dead without a physical mark. In canon they work as mercenaries, thieves, and assassins for hire rather than as a unified power with a fleet. The game leans on that reputation, casting the Lethean Marauder as a lone raider prowling neutral space for easy prey.

Is the Lethean Marauder worth grinding?

If you are working on Explorer-class ships, yes. It is a steady source of 4-star Broken Explorer Parts plus ship XP, and with only one hull variant it is simple to farm once you can reach warp 50. The lack of an ability or weakness cuts both ways: nothing makes the fight easier, but nothing catches you out either, so it is a reliable target once your Battleship can win the trade. The practical tips are the same every run: match warp 50, bring a Battleship to counter the Explorer hull, and pick whichever of Fafniri or YoDSutlj NaQ is closer to your base.
