Returning Son is a level 28 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you fight back against the Augments and then chase down Harry Mudd. It has two fights, both near 300,000 strength, and a 900,000 Tritanium donation in the middle. It needs warp 20 to complete. The rewards are 125 Augment Credits and four 1-day speed ups, and finishing it unlocks Old Friend/New Friend. It is part of the Outlaws arc.
Returning Son objectives
Five objectives, no choice split:
- Fight off the Augment ship (enemy strength about 293,839).
- Track down Mudd. Standort: Krlakh.
- Donate 900,000 Tritanium.
- Find Mudd’s other hideout. Location: Skarrl.
- Disable Mudd’s ship. Location: Skarrl (enemy strength about 305,058).
The mission opens with a fight against an Augment ship, and no system is listed for it. Then you track Mudd to Krlakh, pay 900,000 Tritanium, and follow him to his other hideout in Skarrl, where his ship is the last fight.
Wo und welcher Warp
There is no pickup system. Returning Son starts at warp 1 after Mudd’s Sale and needs warp 20 to finish. The recommended level is 28.
Both fights are far stronger than the Augment ship in Scouting, another level 28 Mudd mission, which sits at about 102,720. At about 294,000 and 305,000 strength, they are the real test of whether you are ready, more than the level number.
Returning Son rewards
| Belohnung | Amount |

Returning Son and the missions around it
| Mission | Recommended level | Warp to complete | Belohnungen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mudd's Verkauf | 28 | 20 | 37,000 Dilithium, 181,000 Tritanium |
| Heimkehrender Sohn | 28 | 20 | 125 Augment Credits, 4 1 Day Speed Up |
| Alter Freund/Neuer Freund | 28 | 19 | 26,000 Dilithium, 128,000 Tritanium |
Mudd’s Sale has you find a seller for the rifles, and Old Friend/New Friend sends you after an Augment pod. Both of those pay Tritanium, while Returning Son takes 900,000 of it and pays speed ups and Augment Credits instead.
Tips
Stockpile the Tritanium before you start. You need 900,000 at the third step, which is more than Mudd’s Sale and Old Friend/New Friend pay combined.
Repair between the two fights. The Augment ship comes first and Mudd’s ship last, with travel and the donation in between, so there is time to get back to full health.
The four 1-day speed ups add up to 96 hours, so save them for long upgrade timers. The mission guide lists other level 28 missions.
