Knowledge Is Its Own Reward

Knowledge Is Its Own Reward is a short Star Trek Fleet Command mission built around digging up information on the Ah’rak Fosh. It carries a recommended level of 1 and sits at warp 1 to both start and complete, so any commander can pick it up right away. The two objectives ask you to collect and then donate Deep Space datapads, and finishing them pays a batch of 4-star refined materials while moving the storyline forward.

Knowledge Is Its Own Reward objectives

The mission runs two objectives, completed in order:

  • Collect 3 Deep Space datapads.
  • Donate 3 Deep Space datapads.

It follows a collect-then-donate pattern. First you gather three Deep Space datapads, then you hand those same three back in to close the mission. The donate step spends the datapads you just collected, so nothing carries over once you finish. There is no combat step and no choice split, so the route stays simple: pick up the datapads, donate them, and you are done.

Wo und welcher Warp

Both the start and the finish sit at warp 1, which keeps the mission close to home and light on fuel. The recommended level is 1, the lowest the game lists, so there is no real power requirement blocking you. New commanders can clear it in a first sitting, and veterans stepping back into the Ah’rak Fosh storyline can wrap it up in a couple of minutes. Warp range is not a concern the way it is on longer Missionen, so any ship you have can make the trip.

Knowledge Is Its Own Reward rewards

Completing the mission pays out a stack of selten refined resources:

  • 30 × 4-star Rare Refined Kristall
  • 30 × 4-star Rare Refined Gas
  • 30 × 4-star Rare Refined Erze

Refined crystal, gas, and ore are the processed versions of the raw materials you mine, and they carry more weight than raw stock because higher-tier research, ship construction, and building upgrades ask for them directly. A 4-star deposit like this one lands in the mid-game bracket, so it is worth banking toward whatever project you are saving for rather than spending on impulse. Wrapping up Knowledge Is Its Own Reward also opens the next step in the Ah’rak Fosh storyline, so the payout is both the materials and the progression.

Tips

Because everything happens at warp 1, you do not need to plan a long haul or stock extra fuel before you start.

Line up your three Deep Space datapads before you reach the donate objective so you can finish both tasks back to back with no waiting in between.

There is nothing to fight, so crew choice does not affect the mission itself. Send whichever ship is handy and keep your combat setups for the missions that actually need them.

Treat the 4-star refined materials as a top-up for a research node or an upgrade you are already working toward, not a haul you build a whole session around.

If you are still early in your account, run this one when you spot it. The level 1 requirement and warp 1 distance mean it costs you almost nothing to clear, and the refined Ressourcen give a low-level roster a small head start on the projects that come later.
