Upgrade Operations to Level 8 is an early station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with one objective: raise Operations to level 8. It needs only warp 1 to start and finish, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 350 Tritanium and three 1 Minute Repair Speed Ups, and finishing it unlocks Upgrade F&E-Abteilung to Level 8. The upgrade takes six hours, which makes it one of the first slow builds on a new station.

The story line notes that Operations houses the Command center and the station’s main computer. There is one objective and no choice split:

Level 8 has the most requirements of the three and the longest build time, even longer than level 9. The mission before this one asks for Tritanium Generator B 4, which is one of those requirements, so the chain sets you up for it. Shipyard 7 and Drydock B 4 need to be in place as well.
Operations 8 in turn is a requirement for level 8 of many other Gebäude, including the Academy and Drydock A. The Weapon Damage Bonus it adds to all your ships sits between 5% at level 5 and 10% at level 10.

Level 8 roughly doubles the Tritanium of Level 7. The reward covers the 250 Tritanium Operations 9 will ask for.
Tips
Check Shipyard 7 and Drydock B 4 before you start. The previous mission covers the generator, so if the upgrade button is blocked, one of those two is the likely reason.
Start the upgrade before a break. Six hours is long at this stage, so queue it before logging off rather than waiting on it.
