Under the Thumb is a two-part mission chain set in the Stellastica system, which suffers under a cruel and sadistic ruler called the Archite. A routine package pickup turns into an audience with the Archite, an escape, and a rebellion that you help lead to victory. Both parts are recommended for level 61 and need warp 900 to complete, and the chain is picked up in Stellastica itself at warp 900. Rewards include 540,000,000 Dilithium, an Optolythic Data Rod, 12 1B Tritanium Tokens and Uhura’s Vokaya Necklace. Every objective with a location is in Stellastica, and there are two named fights.

Under the Thumb Part 1
The story line is to stop the Stellastica system suffering under the thumb of a cruel and sadistic tyrant. The Archite presents his rule as a harmonious dictatorship by consensus, but the people on Nonato look hungry and miserable, and an invitation to meet him is not really optional.
- Pick up a package from Nonato, in Stellastica.
- Attend an audience with the Archite, in Stellastica.
- Escape the Archite’s forces, in Stellastica.
- Defeat Archite Security vessel, in Stellastica (enemy strength ~2,127,123,225).
- Hide out on the forest moon, Fernan, in Stellastica.
- Stand before the leaders of the Stellastican Resistance, in Stellastica.
The audience goes badly, so you flee the Archite’s forces and defeat a security vessel listed at about 2.1 billion strength. You then hide on the forest moon Fernan and meet the Resistance. Warp to complete: 900.
Rewards: 540,000,000 Dilithium, 1 Optolythic Data Rod, 3 2 Hr Peace Shield.
Under the Thumb Part 2
Part 2 is about helping the people of Stellastica attain their freedom. The Resistance plan is to raise an army by freeing the political prisoners held on the prison planet, then take the fight to the Archite.
- Liberate the prison planet, in Stellastica.
- Defeat 10 hostiles of level 60 or higher.
- Lead the Resistance to face the Archite, in Stellastica.
- Defeat the Archite Craft, in Stellastica (enemy strength ~2,127,123,225).
- Install the Resistance as the new government of Stellastica.
- Return to station.
After freeing the prisoners you clear ten hostiles of level 60 or higher, lead the Resistance against the Archite and defeat his craft, again at about 2.1 billion strength. The Resistance takes over the government and you head home. Warp to complete: 900.
Rewards: 12 1B Tritanium Token, 1 Uhura’s Vokaya Necklace.
Tips for completing Under the Thumb
You need warp 900 just to pick this chain up, because the pickup is in Stellastica. Unlike most chains, Part 1 does not start at warp 1, so make sure your ship can reach Stellastica before you plan around it.
Both named fights, the Archite Security vessel and the Archite Craft, are listed at roughly 2,127,123,225 strength. The ten level 60 hostiles in Part 2 take longer than either fight, so budget time and repairs for them.
All the located objectives are inside Stellastica, so once you arrive you can finish both parts without flying elsewhere, apart from the final return to your Station.
Are the Under the Thumb rewards worth it?
Yes, if you can reach warp 900. Part 1 pays 540 million Dilithium and three 2 Hr Peace Shields, and Part 2 pays 12 billion Tritanium in token form. The Optolythic Data Rod and Uhura’s Vokaya Necklace are the unusual rewards and the main reason to finish. The effort is two 2.1 billion strength fights and ten level 60 hostiles.
