The Eye of the Unknown is a level 65 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command and part of the Cult Eternus storyline. The datapads from The Brink of Madness did not reveal where Howards is held, so your crew needs more power to tune the long-range scanners to his neural lattice. The one objective is to upgrade Operations to level 65. It needs warp 1 to start and to complete and pays 155,000 6★ Broken Battleship Parts and 383,000 Raw Σ-Parsteel.
The Eye of the Unknown objectives
There is a single objective and no choice split:
- Upgrade Operations to level 65.
Toryn, who worked closely with Howards, reveals that Howards has a neural lattice built into his parietal lobe. He thinks the long-range scanners could be tuned to its frequency, although success is far from certain, and the ship lacks the bandwidth to even start. Your crew suggests upgrading Operations to free up the power. When the upgrade is done, Toryn gets to work.
Wo und welcher Warp
Nothing happens out in space. There is no pickup system, and both the start and the finish are at warp 1. The recommended level is 65, which matches the Operations level you need.
The upgrade itself is the whole requirement: no donation, no fight and no hostile count.

Tips
Start the Operations 65 upgrade as early as you can. The whole mission is that one upgrade, so any speed ups you save for it shorten the wait before Believers opens.
The 155,000 6★ Broken Battleship Parts are the bigger of the two rewards by count. No later mission in this storyline, up to No Path But Through at level 69, pays Battleship Parts again.
