The Birth is a two-part mission chain in which you witness the birth of a brand new lifeform at the edge of the Nerokira system and then keep it alive while every scavenger in the area tries to take it. Both parts are recommended for level 60. The chain is picked up in Nerokira, which is a warp 700 trip just to start, and Part 1 needs warp 900 to complete. The rewards are almost all Dilithium: 2.79 billion across the two parts, plus 45 1B Parsteel Tokens. The fights are light for the level, so travel is the real cost.

The Birth at a glance

Teil Recommended level Warp to complete Key reward
The Birth Part 1 60 900 1,260,000,000 Dilithium
The Birth Part 2 60 700 1,530,000,000 Dilithium, 45 1B Parsteel Token

Part 1 needs warp 700 to pick up and warp 900 to complete. Part 2 starts at warp 1, and finishing Part 1 opens it.

The Birth Part 1

Your officer intercepts reports of a never-before-seen spatial anomaly at the edge of the Nerokira system. By the time you arrive the system is swarming with explorers and profiteers fighting over it, and a closer scan shows it is not an anomaly at all but a new lifeform.

  • Investigate an unusual event at the edge of the Nerokira system, in Nerokira.
  • Defeat 10 hostiles of level 60 or higher.
  • Get the lifeform away to safety, in Yunii.
  • Hide! (Yunii)
  • Defeat the pursuing vessel, in Yunii (enemy strength ~1,898,556,138).
  • Meet with Hagan the Exobiologist, in Omega Rura.

You use the chaos from the ten-hostile objective to beam the lifeform into a containment field aboard your ship, then warp to Yunii to hide. A ship that followed you from Nerokira uncloaks and attacks, which is the one named fight in this part. With it destroyed, you head to Omega Rura to find Hagan, an eccentric exobiologist who can tell you what the creature needs. Warp to complete: 900.

Rewards: 1,260,000,000 Dilithium, 1 3 Day Speed Up.

The Birth Part 2

You must continue to protect the lifeform. A pirate ship arrives at Omega Rura almost at once, and Hagan then warns that the creature is dying and needs to go back where it came from.

  • Fight off a pirate vessel, in Omega Rura (enemy strength ~1,911,831,138).
  • Return to Nerokira!
  • Defeat 10 hostiles of level 60 or higher.
  • Head towards the Nerokiran sun, in Nerokira.
  • Defeat Orion Trader, in Nerokira (enemy strength ~1,898,556,138).
  • Launch the lifeform into the sun, in Nerokira.

Plenty of ships are still hanging around Nerokira hoping something turns up, so you clear another ten hostiles on the way in. The creature improves as you near the Nerokiran sun but not enough, and after you destroy an Orion Trader that tries to interfere, your officer transports the lifeform straight into the sun so nobody else can reach it. Warp to complete: 700.

Rewards: 1,530,000,000 Dilithium, 45 1B Parsteel Token.

Tips for completing The Birth

Check your range first. Picking up Part 1 in Nerokira takes warp 700 and finishing it takes warp 900, which rules out many ships even at level 60. Part 2 still reaches warp 700.

The named fights are modest. The pursuing vessel and the Orion Trader are listed at about 1.9 billion strength, and the Part 2 pirate at about 1.91 billion, so a well-kept level 60 combat ship can handle all three without a long repair stop.

Each part also has a ten-hostile sweep of level 60 or higher targets. Neither objective lists a system, so clear them wherever it is fastest.

Are The Birth rewards worth it?

If you need Dilithium, yes. The chain pays 2.79 billion Dilithium and 45 1B Parsteel Tokens for three moderate fights and two hostile sweeps. The catch is the travel: the warp 700 pickup and warp 900 completion make it a chain to run when your ships can already cover that distance. For other level 60 missions, see the STFC mission guide.
