The Best of Both Worlds is the opening mission in Star Trek Fleet Command’s story, built around the search for the missing Captain Picard. You intercept a Borg Cube and attack it. It needs only warp 1, lists a recommended level of 1, and has no mission before it. The reward is 100 Parsteel, and finishing it unlocks Operations, where you investigate the abandoned station.
The Best of Both Worlds objectives
The story line is to search for the missing Captain Picard. There are five objectives and no choice split:
- Intercept the Borg Cube.
- Intercept the Borg Cube.
- Attack the Borg Cube. Enemy strength around 9 trillion.
- The Best of Both Worlds.
- The Best of Both Worlds.
The objective list repeats itself: intercept appears twice, and the last two steps carry only the mission’s name with no further description. No system is named for any step.
Wo und welcher Warp
There is no pickup system, and warp 1 covers the whole mission. The recommended level is 1.
The Borg Cube’s listed strength, around 9 trillion, is far beyond anything a level 1 ship can match. Follow the mission’s prompts through the attack step rather than preparing for it like a normal fight.

Tips
There is nothing to prepare. Warp 1, level 1 and no named systems mean you can play it the moment you start, and the 100 Parsteel is a small first deposit toward your early station upgrades.
