Somebody Has To is a level 75 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which a meeting between locals and refugees descends into chaos. It is picked up in Rey’Kyav and needs warp 3,500 to start and to complete, with a second meeting in Yagnerus. After you intervene in the argument, you choose whether to follow Ven or Derwin, and each path ends with a different ship to disable. Both pay 108,000 Σ-Dilithium, 2,990,000 7★ Raw Kristall and a 3 Day Peace Shield. It is faction-neutral and short, whichever crew member you back.
Somebody Has To objectives
The mission opens with one shared objective:
- Intervene in the argument. Location: Rey’Kyav.
Ven and Derwin then head off in different directions, and you choose who to follow.
Follow Ven
- Follow Ven. Location: Rey’Kyav.
- Attend the meeting. Location: Yagnerus.
- Disable the Mayor’s ship. Location: Yagnerus (enemy strength about 32.6 trillion).
- Kehren Sie zu Ihrem Bahnhof zurück.
Follow Derwin
- Follow Derwin. Location: Rey’Kyav.
- Attend the meeting. Location: Yagnerus.
- Disable the refugee’s ship. Location: Yagnerus (enemy strength about 32.3 trillion).
- Kehren Sie zu Ihrem Bahnhof zurück.
Following Ven ends with you disabling the Mayor’s ship, while following Derwin ends with you disabling a refugee’s ship. The two enemies are within a few hundred billion strength of each other.

The pickup system is Rey’Kyav. Warp to start and warp to complete are both 3,500, and the recommended level is 75.
Rey’Kyav and Yagnerus are the only systems used, and the mission ends at your station.

Somebody Has To pays far more raw material, and it is the one to pick if you want 7★ Raw Crystal without moving your reputation.
Tips
Choose on story. The rewards match, and the fights on both paths are the same size.
Save the 3 Day Peace Shield for a longer break from the game.
A New Start also picks up in Rey’Kyav at this level and pays Federation Points, and Spirals Under The Skin also visits Yagnerus and pays Klingonisch Points, so you can build a route around this mission whichever faction you favour.
