Proof of Worth is a two-part mission chain in which Q decides your reputation has grown too big and sets you a trial in Klingon territory. He hands Narian, one of your crew, to a Klingon gang called Mantok’s Marauders, and you have to go and get her back. Both parts are recommended for level 19. The chain starts at your station, runs through the Ka’Bi and Francihk systems, and reaches warp 15 at its furthest. Across both parts you earn 113,000 Parsteel, 18,000 Tritanium and 3,400 Dilithium. It is a short, fight-heavy chain that pays well in basic Ressourcen for a level 19 commander.

Proof of Worth at a glance

Teil Recommended level Warp zum Abschließen Key reward
Proof of Worth Part 1 19 15 36,000 Parsteel and 6,000 Tritanium
Proof of Worth Part 2 19 13 77,000 Parsteel and 12,000 Tritanium

Both parts start at warp 1. Finishing Part 1 opens Part 2, and there is no choice split anywhere in the chain.

Proof of Worth Part 1

Maia tells you Q is back and wants you at the Court of Q. There he reveals that he has delivered a member of your crew to the angriest House of Klingonen he could find, and a search of your base confirms Narian is gone. You head into Klingon space, where the Klingon Mogagh knows where Mantok is hiding but will only tell you after you beat him in battle.

  • Follow the summons to the Court of Q.
  • Search your base for the missing crew member.
  • Travel into Klingon space, in the Ka’Bi System.
  • Defeat the Klingon ship in Ka’Bi (enemy strength ~18,405).
  • Travel to the Francihk System.

The first two objectives are story steps with no travel or combat. The fight against Mogagh in Ka’Bi is the only battle in this part, and the part ends as you arrive in Francihk, which Maia reports is crawling with Mantok’s people. Warp to complete: 15.

Rewards: 36,000 Parsteel, 6,000 Tritanium and 1,100 Dilithium.

Proof of Worth Part 2

The rescue itself. Mantok’s ships converge on you as soon as you arrive, Mantok refuses to hand Narian back, and you have to beam her out and then fight your way clear. This part has four combat objectives, so it is the harder of the two.

  • Defeat 10 hostiles of level 20 or higher.
  • Confront Mantok in the Francihk system.
  • Rescue the crew member in the Francihk system.
  • Defeat 5 hostiles of level 20 or higher.
  • Defeat Mantok’s ship in the Francihk system.
  • Kehren Sie zu Ihrem Bahnhof zurück.

The two hostile-kill objectives do not name a system, and they ask for hostiles of level 20 or higher, one level above the chain’s recommended level. Confronting Mantok turns into a fight when he opens fire, and Mantok’s ship is the last battle before you warp home. Once you are back at the station, Q admits your reputation is earned. Warp to complete: 13.

Rewards: 77,000 Parsteel, 12,000 Tritanium and 2,300 Dilithium.

Tips for completing Proof of Worth

Range is modest. Part 1 reaches warp 15 and Part 2 reaches warp 13, so a ship that can make the trip to Francihk handles the whole chain.

The hostile kills in Part 2 are the step most likely to slow you down. You need 15 hostiles in total at level 20 or higher, split into a batch of 10 and a batch of 5, and a level 19 commander may find those fights close to the limit of what their ships can handle. The Klingon hostiles page is a useful place to look for suitable targets.

Part 2 stacks its fights close together: 10 hostiles, the Mantok confrontation, 5 more hostiles and then Mantok’s ship. Repair between them rather than carrying damage into the final battle with Mantok. The Mogagh fight in Part 1 is listed at about 18,405 enemy strength, which gives you a rough idea of the strength the chain expects at level 19.

Are the Proof of Worth rewards worth it?

Yes, if you are around level 19 and short on building materials. The chain pays 113,000 Parsteel, 18,000 Tritanium and 3,400 Dilithium, and Part 2 accounts for roughly two thirds of that. The cost is a warp 15 trip and a run of fights, the toughest being the 15 hostiles at level 20 or higher. For more missions at this level and beyond, see the STFC mission guide.
