The Praefortis is a Romulan grade 7 Uncommon Explorer, a cloaking warbird tuned for Isolytic combat inside the Veil rather than mining or hauling. Its two always-on abilities push Isolytic damage against anything in the Veil and stack heavy Isolytic defense against non-armada hostiles, and a cloak refit lets it slip through space unseen. You unlock the build at Shipyard level 73. For an Ungewöhnlich, it punches into territory usually reserved for pricier hulls.
How to get the Praefortis
Building the Praefortis takes 150 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 73. Once those are in place, the build cost is 27,000 Σ-Dilithium, 700 7★ Gemeinsame Refined Ore, 2,800 7★ Common Refined Gas, and 2,600,000 Σ-Tritanium, with a build time of 150 days. The game Daten sets the blueprint count and the shipyard requirement but does not say where the blueprints come from, so plan around the requirement rather than a specific source.
Praefortis ability
The Praefortis carries two ship abilities, and both run at all times. Through the Veil increases Isolytic Damage by 150% against all opponents in the Veil at level 1, climbing to 300% at level 75 (it does not apply to stations). Isolytic Ward increases Isolytic Defense by 500% against non-armada hostiles at level 1, scaling to 2,000% at level 75. Together they make the ship a specialist: it hits harder and shrugs off more inside Veil space than it would anywhere else, so its value tracks how much of your combat happens there.
Praefortis active ability
Beyond the always-on abilities, the Praefortis has two player-triggered actions. Ship Tarnung hides the ship until the cloak’s duration runs out or you enter combat, start mining, or dock at a station. Field Repairs, used out of combat, instantly repairs 25% of the ship’s hull health while undocked. You choose when to fire each one, and both are useful between fights: cloak to reposition or avoid a scan, then patch hull damage without a trip back to a station. The cloak itself is unlocked through a refit (see below).
Stats and tiers
Base values from the current game data; research, buffs, and Offiziere raise them in play.
| Ebene | Warp (speed / range) | Impulse | Cargo (protected) | Shield HP | Hull HP | Health (displayed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 10.7 / 2,440 | 90 | 49,000 (2,450) | 794,642,570 | 690,993,539 | 742,818,055 |
| 8 | 11.4 / 2,980 | 94 | 68,000 (3,400) | 1,349,152,064 | 1,173,175,708 | 1,261,163,886 |
| 15 | 12.1 / 3,670 | 100 | 96,100 (4,805) | 2,468,508,454 | 2,146,529,091 | 2,307,518,773 |
Weapons and firing pattern
Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires; cool-down is the number of rounds between shots after that. The values below are at max tier 15.
| Waffe | Typ | Shots | Warm-up | Cool-down | Damage | Crit chance | Crit damage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Energie | 2 | 1 | 2 | 51,196,725–63,995,906 | 10% | 150% |
| 2 | Kinetic | 2 | 2 | 2 | 51,196,725–63,995,906 | 10% | 150% |
| 3 | Energie | 2 | 1 | 2 | 51,196,725–63,995,906 | 10% | 150% |
| 4 | Energie | 2 | 2 | 2 | 51,196,725–63,995,906 | 10% | 150% |
Three of the four weapons are energy and one is kinetic, and every weapon fires two shots per volley with the same damage band, so the ship leans energy but keeps a kinetic option in the mix.
Crew slots and officer bonus
The Praefortis opens officer slots as it levels up, reaching a full bridge of seven at ship level 70.
| Ship level | Officer slots |
|---|---|
| 5 | 1 |
| 10 | 2 |
| 20 | 3 |
| 35 | 4 |
| 45 | 5 |
| 55 | 6 |
| 70 | 7 |
The ship also boosts your officers’ stats, and its attack, defense, and health bonuses all use the same ladder. As you feed the ship more of the required amount, the bonus steps up.
| Amount | Bonus (attack / defense / health) |
|---|---|
| 320,000 | 1,400% |
| 640,000 | 2,800% |
| 1,040,000 | 4,200% |
| 1,440,000 | 5,600% |
| 1,920,000 | 7,000% |
| 2,560,000 | 8,400% |
| 3,520,000 | 9,800% |
| 4,800,000 | 11,200% |
| 6,400,000 | 12,600% |
| 9,600,000 | 14,000% |
Praefortis refits
Refits unlock extra abilities and combat bonuses for the ship, paid for with shards. The Praefortis has four.
| Nachrüstung | What it does |
|---|---|
| Field Repairs | Unlocks the Field Repairs active ability. Out of combat, instantly repairs 25% of the ship’s hull health while undocked. Costs 120 shards. |
| Praefortis Gold | Increases the ship’s base weapon damage by 3,000% while in the Veil. |
| Praefortis Simulacrum | Increases Critical Mitigation against players by 500 and against Akademie Training Drones by 55,000 at the start of combat. Critical Mitigation reduces true critical damage from all sources; every 500 points cuts the critical damage you can take by 1%. Costs 120 shards. |
| Praefortis Cloaking | Unlocks the Cloaking ability. Cloaking increases weapon damage by 850%, grants invisibility, and has a 66% base chance to hide your name and alliance data from enemy Battle Reports. |
Crew for the Praefortis
Because the Praefortis is a combat Explorer built around Isolytic damage and the Veil, the bridge you want is one that raises weapon damage and survivability in a straight fight, and that leans into its cloak-and-strike style. A captain who boosts weapon damage or critical hits pairs well with the Praefortis Gold refit’s damage bonus, while officers that add hull or shield mitigation help the ship stay in the fight once its cloak drops. Crews shift with the meta, so check the Officer Tier List for current picks before you commit trainers and shards to a bridge.
The Praefortis in Star Trek
Romulanisch warbirds are the backbone of the Star Trek Romulan fleet, prizing speed, cloaking, and the ability to strike from concealment over brute durability. The Praefortis is a game vessel rather than a ship seen on screen, and its story comes from the game itself: a warbird common in the Romulan Free State, built for a secretive sect that wants to stay off the radar. In-game lore says this particular model was listed as destroyed in battle and written off by the Tal Shiar, which makes its reappearance around the Margins a small mystery in its own right.
Is the Praefortis worth it?
For a grade 7 Uncommon, the Praefortis offers a lot: two Isolytic abilities, a cloak, self-repair, and refits that raise its damage sharply inside the Veil. If your play takes you into Veil space and G7 combat, it earns its slot, and the cloak adds real value in PvP by hiding your identity in Battle Reports. Players still grinding toward the Shipyard 73 requirement can treat it as a goal rather than an early pickup.
