Motivations is a Federation story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you travel to New Vulcan to uncover the origins of Ensign Venonn. The game lists a recommended level of 1, it starts at warp 1, and it needs warp 75 to complete. You search for information on New Vulcan, mine 3,200 4★ Raw Crystal for the Vulcans, deliver it, and report to Starbase 87 in Holles. There is no fight. The reward includes 900 4★ Gemeinsame Survey Parts and 80 4★ Ungewöhnlich Refined Gas.

The Vulcans want crystal in exchange for what they know about Venonn. The mining step has no location attached, so you can mine wherever your ships can reach 4★ crystal. Once the crystal is back on New Vulcan, you take the information to Starbase 87.

The recommended level is 1. With no fight, warp 75 and the ability to mine 4★ Raw Crystal are the real requirements.

Motivations pays the most Federation Points of the three, but also takes the most Klingon Points: 890,928 against 481,428 for the other two.
Tips
Use a survey ship. The mission has no fight, and its main task is mining, so a survey ship is the natural choice and the 900 Survey Parts go straight back into it.
Plan the mining around your survey fleet. 3,200 4★ Raw Crystal is a sizeable amount, and it then has to be carried back to New Vulcan, so a ship with a large cargo hold needs fewer trips.
Mind the Klingon penalty. Losing 890,928 Klingon Points is large, so weigh it if you are building Klingon standing. The mission before this one is Übergabe, and other missions by level are on the Missionsleitfaden.
