Folding is the Progenitor Device mission that sends you out to Carraya to trace a signal and pin down a landing zone. Three objectives, no combat, and 350,000 Parsteel when you report back. The number that decides when you can run it is the warp to complete: 27.
Folding objectives
The objectives run in order, and the first two both happen in the same system.
- Investigate the coordinates in the Carraya system. Location: Carraya.
- Locate the origin of the signal in the Carraya system. Location: Carraya.
- Return to the station with your findings.
There is no choice split and nothing to fight, so the whole mission comes down to reaching Carraya, running two scans, and flying home. Every player finishes it the same way.
Wo und welcher Warp
Folding can be picked up at warp 1, so it will show up in your mission log long before you can act on it. Finishing it is the harder number. Carraya sits far enough out that the warp to complete is 27, and until your ship can make that jump the mission just sits in the log.
The route itself is simple. Both scanning objectives are in Carraya, so there is no second long trip partway through, and the final step brings you back to your own station. One haul out, two objectives on arrival, one haul back.
Folding rewards
Completing Folding pays 350,000 Parsteel. That is the whole reward list. No officer shards, no ship parts, no Fraktionsruf. Finishing it also opens the next part of the chain.
350,000 Parsteel is a decent sum without being a game changer. Early on it covers a real chunk of a building upgrade. By the time your warp range reaches 27, though, Parsteel is usually not the resource holding you back, so the payout reads as a bonus on top of chain progression rather than the reason to go.
Tips
Warp range is the gate here, not power. With nothing to fight, you do not need a combat crew or a strong hull. You need a ship that can reach Carraya. If warp 27 is beyond you, put warp research and your ship’s warp capability first and come back to Folding once the range is there.
Look at what is sitting in Carraya before you commit to the trip. The mission itself throws nothing at you, but a system 27 warp from home is a long way out, and losing the ship on the approach costs you the entire round trip.
Run it in one sitting when you can. Both scans and the return leg go quickly once you are in position, and there is no timer on any of it, so travel time is the only real cost of the mission.
Clear it as soon as your warp range allows if you are working through the Progenitor Device Missionen. Folding is a step in a chain, and the next part does not open until this one is done, so leaving it parked stalls everything behind it.
