The Primeval is a two-step combat mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you defeat a mysterious alien ship. The game lists a recommended level of 1, yet completing it takes warp 40 and a fight against a Primeval ship of roughly 1,373,877 strength. Both objectives happen in Nekosa. The reward is 50 Premium Recruit Tokens, and finishing it unlocks Dunkler Raum. The fight is the real test here.
The Primeval objectives
The story line reads simply: defeat a mysterious alien ship. There are two objectives and no choice split:
- Locate the source of the Progenitor signal in the Nekosa system. Location: Nekosa.
- Defeat the Primeval ship. Location: Nekosa. Enemy strength is roughly 1,373,877.
The first step is travel. Reaching the signal source in Nekosa clears it, and the Primeval ship appears as the second step in the same system. There is no return trip listed, so once the ship is destroyed the mission is done.
Wo und welcher Warp
No pickup system is listed. The mission opens at warp 1 but needs warp 40 to complete, since Nekosa is the only system it uses. That gap means the mission can arrive in your log well before you can reach Nekosa.
The recommended level shows as 1, which is not a useful guide for this one. A warp 40 destination and an enemy at about 1.37 million strength put the real bar far higher, so judge readiness by your ship’s warp range and your combat power rather than the listed level.
The Primeval rewards
The mission pays 50 Premium Recruit Tokens. Completing it also unlocks the next mission in the storyline, Dark Space.
Is the fight worth it?
For a mission with a single reward line, the effort is concentrated in one battle. Everything else is a single warp 40 trip to Nekosa. That makes the mission short once your fleet can handle the Primeval ship, and a wall until it can.
The 50 Premium Recruit Tokens are the only payout, so the stronger reason to clear The Primeval is progression. It sits between Einschalten and Dark Space, and the storyline does not move on until the Primeval ship is beaten.
Tips
Bring your strongest combat ship. At roughly 1,373,877 strength the Primeval ship is the whole mission, and a survey or mining hull has no business in this fight. Repair fully before you jump, since the ship arrives at Nekosa straight from a long warp 40 trip.
Check your warp range before accepting the fight in your plans. Nekosa is the only system in the mission, so if a warp 40 jump is out of reach, neither objective can progress.
If the Primeval ship beats you, repair and come back with a stronger crew or an upgraded ship. The listed level of 1 means the mission shows up early, so there is no penalty for letting it wait until your fleet is ready. Other missions sorted by level are on the Missionsleitfaden.
