The Cost of Obsession is a Borg-Bogen mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you search for a new piece of Borg technology. It is listed at recommended level 1, starts at warp 1 and needs warp 18 to complete. Everything happens around Pasadoran: you visit a colony, find the organization behind it, clear 10 hostiles of level 26 or higher, then decide whether to attack the colony or abandon Dalen. Attacking pays 75,000 Dilithium; walking away pays 182,000 Officer XP.
The Cost of Obsession objectives
The first five steps are shared:
- Visit the Colony. Location: Pasadoran.
- Find the organization. Location: Pasadoran.
- Besiegen Sie 10 Feinde der Stufe 26 oder höher.
- Return to the colony. Location: Pasadoran.

That last question is a choice split with two very different outcomes.
Path A: attack the colony
- Defeat the colony leader. Location: Pasadoran. Enemy strength is roughly 296,419.

Path B: abandon Dalen
- Kehren Sie zu Ihrer Station zurück.
Path A adds a serious fight at close to 300,000 strength. Path B skips combat entirely and sends you straight home.

The mission picks up at warp 1 and needs warp 18 to complete. Pasadoran is the only named system; the hostile count does not name one. Both paths end with a return to your station.
The recommended level is 1, but the level 26 hostiles and, on Path A, the colony leader are what decide when you can finish it.

Either path unlocks the next mission in the Borg Arc.
Welchen Weg du wählen solltest
Path B is the easier choice and, for most players, the better one. It skips the colony leader fight and pays 182,000 Officer XP, which goes straight into levelling your crew.
Path A makes sense if you need Dilithium more than officer levels and your ship can beat a target at nearly 300,000 strength.

Both Missionen finish at warp 18 and both end in a choice, so the same ship and the same planning carry straight over from Over the Line.
Tips
Clear the 10 hostiles with a combat ship before you return to the colony. They must be level 26 or higher, so pick your targets accordingly.
If you plan to attack, repair before you return to Pasadoran for the final step. The colony leader is the hardest fight in the mission.
