The Failure is a late story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command built around one decision: help Veruul, or don’t. It opens at warp 1 and needs warp 95 to complete, with the recommended level listed as 1. After meeting a Senator in Esto, you choose whether to break Veruul out of a Föderation prison. Breaking him out costs 3M Dilithium and pays 890 pieces of 4★ refined Erze; refusing sends you straight home with 320 Ultra Recruit Tokens. There is no fight on either path.

The Failure objectives

The mission opens with one shared step and then the choice:

  • Meet with the Senator. Location: Esto.
  • Break Varuul out of Federation prison?

The game spells the name both Veruul and Varuul in the mission text; it is the same character.

Path 1: break Veruul out

  • Find the holding station. Location: New Canberra.
  • Donate 3M Dilithium.
  • Return Veruul to his father. Location: Esto.

Rewards for Path 1: 90 4★ Ungewöhnlich Refined Ore, 800 4★ Gemeinsame Refined Ore.

Path 2: leave him there

  • Kehren Sie zu Ihrer Station zurück.

Rewards for Path 2: 320 Ultra Recruit Token.

Wo und welcher Warp

The Failure has no pickup system in the data and starts at warp 1. Completing it takes warp 95. The first stop is Esto for everyone. On Path 1 you then go to New Canberra, pay the donation and fly back to Esto; on Path 2 you simply return to your station after the choice.

The recommended level is listed as 1, but warp 95 puts the mission well into the late game.

The Failure rewards

Belohnung Path 1 (break him out) Path 2 (refuse)
4★ Ungewöhnliches Raffinerie-Erz 90 0
4★ Common Refined Ore 800 0
Ultra Recruit Token 0 320

The Failure has no unlock line in the data, so it does not open a next part. The mission before it is The Prestige.

Welchen Pfad du wählen solltest

This choice is a trade between Dilithium and refined ore on one side and recruit tokens on the other.

Path 1 asks for 3M Dilithium and two extra jumps, New Canberra and back to Esto, and returns 890 pieces of 4★ refined ore in total. If you are short on 4★ refined ore and have Dilithium to spare, that is the path to take.

Path 2 costs nothing. You meet the Senator, turn the request down, fly home and collect 320 Ultra Recruit Tokens. If your Dilithium is committed elsewhere, or you would rather have the tokens, Path 2 is the fast finish.

Neither path has combat, so ship strength does not decide anything here. The only gates are warp 95 for the travel and, on Path 1, the Dilithium balance.

Tips

Decide before you meet the Senator. The choice comes straight after the Esto visit, and if you want Path 1 you need 3M Dilithium in stock at the donation step in New Canberra.

Any ship with the warp range will do. Nothing on either path is a fight, so there is no need to send your main combat ship.
