The Worst of Us is a Star Trek Fleet Command story mission, recommended for level 28, in which you infiltrate a Romulan lab. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 19 to finish, and the lab is in Biruin. You bring Mudd to the lab, clear 10 hostiles of level 27 or higher, get Mudd out and head home. The only reward is 1,517,000 Parsteel, a large payout for a mission with no named boss.
The Worst of Us objectives

The mission starts and finishes its story in Biruin. Mudd goes into the lab, you clear the hostiles, and then you evacuate him before returning home. The hostile objective has no system attached, so the level 27 floor is what matters.
There is no named enemy. The 10-hostile grind is the only combat in the mission.

Warp is 1 to start and 19 to complete. Biruin is the only named system, and warp 19 is what you need to reach it. The route is out to Biruin and back to your station.
The recommended level is 28, which lines up with hostiles of level 27 or higher.
The Worst of Us rewards
The only reward is 1,517,000 Parsteel. Completing the mission also unlocks the next part of the chain.
The Worst of Us and Caged Animals compared
Both Missionen send you to a lab in Biruin, and both share the same recommended level and warp. They differ in the kind of fight and in what they pay.

The Worst of Us is a grind with a big resource payout. Caged Animals is a single named fight that pays faction credits instead.
Tips
Bring a combat ship that can chain kills. Ten hostiles of level 27 or higher is the whole combat load, and there is no boss at the end to save your strength for.
Plan your Parsteel. At 1,517,000, this is a big single payout at level 28, so it is worth timing the mission for when you have a Parsteel-heavy upgrade waiting.
Line it up with Caged Animals. Both use Biruin at warp 19, so the same ship and the same route work for both missions.
