Beyond the Known is a level 51 KSG mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you retrieve a researcher from a desolate planet. It starts at warp 1 after Food For Thought and needs warp 230 to complete, with the pickup in Corsen and the hand-off in Ariadexa. Between the two you defeat 12 hostiles of level 49 or higher. The reward is 150 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups and 64,800,000 Tritanium, and it unlocks Behind Us.
Beyond the Known objectives
There are three objectives and no choice split:
- Collect the researcher. Location: Corsen.
- Defeat 12 hostiles of level 49 or higher.
- Return the researcher to KSG space. Location: Ariadexa.
The hostile count has no system attached, so any hostiles of level 49 or higher count toward the 12. That makes it a grind step you can fit around whatever else you are doing, rather than a scripted fight.

There is no pickup system. Beyond the Known unlocks at warp 1 once Food For Thought is complete, and finishing it needs warp 230 for the trips to Corsen and Ariadexa.
The recommended level is 51. The 12 hostile kills are the part that tests your ship, and level 49 is the minimum they need to be.

Beyond the Known is the first KSG mission with combat in it. Behind Us follows with two named raider fights, so the chain turns more combat-focused from here.
Tips
Collect the researcher first, then grind. The hostile step comes after the Corsen pickup, and since the kills are not tied to a system, clearing hostiles near Corsen or on the way back to Ariadexa keeps the trip short.
Use the repair speed ups on the grind itself. Twelve fights will leave a ship damaged, and 150 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups is more than enough to keep it cycling.
