Corrupted Cybernetic Implant

The Corrupted Cybernetic Implant is a Rare Forbidden Tech built around one job: attacking other players’ stations. Its opening buff raises all of your mitigation stats for the first three rounds of a station attack, and later tiers stack on hull health, isolytic damage, and a large damage boost against station targets. For a Rare piece, the numbers at max tier are big. If you crack stations at all, this one earns its slot.

What the Corrupted Cybernetic Implant does

The first buff is the one you feel immediately. From tier 1 it increases all mitigation stats for three rounds while you attack a player station, starting at 100% and reaching 1,500% at max tier and level. Mitigation cuts down the damage that gets through from each incoming shot, so a three-round window of inflated mitigation covers the opening exchange, which is where a defended station does most of its work on you.

Three more buffs unlock as you tier the piece up.

Buff Unlocks at tier Unlock value Max value
All mitigation stats for three rounds when attacking player Stations 1 100% 1,500%
Hull Health 3 150% 1,800%
Isolytic Damage when attacking player Stations 6 3% 20%
Damage when attacking player Stations 8 500% 3,000%

Read that as a progression rather than a package. At low tiers you get survivability and nothing else. The damage side of the piece, both the isolytic component and the flat damage against stations, arrives late at tiers 6 and 8, so a partially built implant helps you live through a station hit without making it any faster.

How to get the Corrupted Cybernetic Implant

Forbidden Tech unlocks through the Forbidden Tech refinery. This piece is Rare, so the currency you need is Rare Forbidden Fragments, which come from Q’s Trials and from special rewards. You also need a free Forbidden Tech slot on the ship you plan to use, and slots open with Forbidden Tech Fusion Rods. Fusion Rods come from the refinery and the store, and they double as the way to pull a piece back off a ship later.

Spare parts are not wasted. Excess Forbidden Tech parts convert into Forbidden Tech Credit Pieces, which exchange for Forbidden Tech Credits in the refinery.

Upgrading the Corrupted Cybernetic Implant

There are two tracks. Tiers unlock the later buffs and raise the level cap, and you push them with Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalysts. Levels scale the values you already have, and they run on Forbidden Tech Protomatter. Both tracks also consume Forbidden Tech Reactors, which are what an upgrade attempt costs, and Probability Devices raise the chance an attempt succeeds. The implant tops out at tier 12 and level 60.

Tier Level cap Cost
1 5 Starting tier, no cost
7 35 32 Forbidden Tech Reactor, 4,200 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst
12 60 32 Forbidden Tech Reactor, 4,900 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst

Reaching tier 12 costs 352 Forbidden Tech Reactor and 57,000 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst in total. Taking the piece from level 2 to level 60 costs another 1,856 Forbidden Tech Reactor and 475,975 Forbidden Tech Protomatter. Those are the current values in the latest game data.

Best ships and uses for the Corrupted Cybernetic Implant

The game files this piece under the Station use case, and every buff except hull health is conditional on attacking a player station. That makes the decision simple: slot it on whichever ship you actually send at enemy stations, not on your strongest ship in general. Anywhere else, the only part still doing work is the hull health boost, and there are better choices for pure survivability, such as Ablative Armor.

Because the mitigation buff runs for three rounds, it rewards a fast opening rather than a long slugging match. Go in, absorb the station’s first volleys behind inflated mitigation, and have your damage ready inside that window.

The Corrupted Cybernetic Implant in Star Trek

This one is a game original. No episode or film features a corrupted cybernetic implant by that name; Star Trek Fleet Command wrote it for the Forbidden Tech system rather than adapting it from screen canon. The idea behind it is familiar, though. Cybernetic implants in Star Trek run from Federation medicine, where prosthetics like Geordi La Forge’s VISOR give back what a body lost, to the Borg, whose implants strip away the will of the person wearing them. The game’s own description sits between those poles: a medical implant resequenced to manipulate its wearer, with the hint that more testing could weaponize it against enemy personnel during a boarding action.

Is the Corrupted Cybernetic Implant worth it?

If station attacks are part of how you play, yes. A Rare piece that reaches 3,000% damage and 1,500% mitigation against stations is a strong return for Rare-tier fragments. If you never crack stations, skip it and put your catalysts into something that works everywhere. The awkward spot is the middle, since the damage buffs do not arrive until tiers 6 and 8, and a half-built implant is defense only.
