Borg Type 03.1 Solo Armada

The Borg Type 03.1 is a Q-Continuum solo armada in Star Trek Fleet Command, fought at levels 44 to 60 in Continuum space. It is the middle stage of the Borg Type 03 line, an evolved armada you break with one strong ship rather than a hull counter. It drops Borg Type 03 Solo Armada Credits, and its Defense Protocol fires a lethal Cutting Beam every round while it opens the fight behind an Apex Barrier, so bring an evolved SS Revenant and heavy survivability.

How to beat the Borg Type 03.1

Because this is a solo armada, there is no Interceptor, Battleship, or Explorer variant to counter. You bring one strong armada ship, or a formed armada if your alliance runs them together, and hit it directly. It runs as a single-slot solo armada with no round limit, so one player can clear it without filling the other slots, and your armada buffs stay active for the whole fight. The Borg Type 03 armadas live in Continuum space and are built around the SS Revenant. The 03.1 is an evolved stage of the line, so you need an evolved SS Revenant to take it down rather than a base ship.

The Borg Type 03.1 carries two always-active abilities. Defense Protocol α fires its Cutting Beam on the second weapon of every round and deals lethal damage to your ship, so every round lands a heavy hit no matter how well you mitigate. Defense Protocol β raises the armada’s Apex Barrier by 30,000 at the start of combat, giving it an extra layer of defense to chew through before your damage starts to bite. Both effects reward a fast, high-damage kill over a long grind, since the longer the fight runs the more Cutting Beam hits you absorb. Crew for it the way you crew any armada target: a captain that raises your weapon damage against hostiles, backed by officers that add damage or mitigation. Crews shift with the meta, so check the Officer Tier List for current picks before you commit shards.

Where to find the Borg Type 03.1

The Borg Type 03.1 sits at one level per system across Continuum space, climbing from level 44 up to level 60. Each system holds a single level of the armada, so pick the system that matches the level you are farming. Warp requirements rise sharply with the level, from warp 150 at the lowest system to warp 700 at the top, so set your minimum warp to reach the level you want and confirm your ship can make the jump before you commit.

Level Warp Systems
44 150 Neco
46 170 Horalius
48 190 Opanth
50 195 Kenakel
52 240 Mehruunahd
54 295 Pherson
56 430 Brookfield
58 480 Faolain
60 700 Corialsis

Rewards and what it drops

The Borg Type 03.1 pays out Borg Type 03 Solo Armada Credits, the currency you spend on Borg Type 03 rewards. The amount per kill scales with the armada level, from 450 at the low end to 7,200 at level 60, a much larger payout than the entry 03.0 stage returns. Ship XP also climbs with level, so higher systems return more progress toward your ship tiers per run.

Drop What it is
Borg Type 03 Solo Armada Credits Armada currency (450 to 7,200 per kill) spent on Borg Type 03 solo armada rewards; the payout rises with the armada’s level.

Borg Type 03.1 stats

Stats climb steeply with level, so the gap between level 44 and level 60 is huge. Total strength grows more than forty times across that span, with hull and shield health rising alongside it, while attack and defense climb at a gentler pace. These anchor rows show the low, mid, and high ends of the range so you can gauge how much ship you need before you engage a given level.

Level Total strength Hull HP Shield HP Attack Defense Ship XP
44 3,716,424,064,748 5,946,235,402,919 1,486,558,850,730 23,858,588 3,079,335 2,001

Borg Type 03.1 firing pattern

The Borg Type 03.1 fires four weapons every round: three Energy weapons and one heavy Kinetic weapon. The Kinetic shot lands a flat two million damage, so it is the hit to plan your mitigation and repairs around, and both weapon groups fire every round with no gaps. These figures are the lowest-level tier, and the higher armada levels scale up from here.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 3 976,625 to 1,819,799 Every round 10% (1.5x)
Kinetic 1 2,000,000 Every round 10% (1.5x)

The Q in Star Trek

The Q are near-omnipotent beings from an extra-dimensional realm called the Q Continuum. The most familiar Q first appeared in “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” where he put humanity on trial and needled Captain Picard as a trickster who could bend space, time, and matter at will. Q Junior, who taunts you during this encounter, is Q’s son, introduced in “Star Trek: Voyager” as a reckless young Q still learning his powers. In the 03.1 fight his “twist” reframes the armada as a one-versus-one test of your ship, which suits his character as a Q looking to raise the stakes.

Is the Borg Type 03.1 worth grinding?

Yes, if you are working through Continuum space and need Borg Type 03 Solo Armada Credits or the ship XP the higher levels return. As the middle 03.1 stage it pays far more per kill than the 03.0 rung below it, so it is the step you move to once your SS Revenant can handle it. Match your warp to the level you want, bring an evolved SS Revenant with strong survivability, and plan for that Cutting Beam hit each round. For more targets like this, see the Solo Armadas guide.
