An Old Friend is a Star Trek Fleet Command story mission where you deliver Bones and one of his patients to the Enterprise. It opens at warp 1 and needs warp 80 to complete, with stops at Starbase 17 in Rua Ri, Luoman and Vita Nova, and it ends with a hunt for 10 hostiles of level 43 or higher. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but those hostiles and the warp 80 route are the real requirement. The reward is 64,800,000 Parsteel and 340 4★ Common Refined Ore, and finishing it unlocks Genealogy.
An Old Friend objectives
There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Collect Bones and Sulen from Starbase 17. Location: Rua Ri.
- Rendezvous with the Enterprise in Luoman. Location: Luoman.
- Accompany the Enterprise to Vita Nova. Location: Vita Nova.
- Defeat 10 hostiles of Level 43 or higher.
The first three steps are an escort run. You pick up Bones and his patient Sulen at Starbase 17 in Rua Ri, meet the Enterprise in Luoman, then travel alongside it to Vita Nova. None of those steps has a fight attached.
The last step is the combat. You need 10 kills against hostiles of level 43 or above, and no system is named for them, so any qualifying hostiles within range count.
Where and what warp
An Old Friend becomes available at warp 1 and no pickup system is named. Completing it takes warp 80, which covers the route through Rua Ri, Luoman and Vita Nova.
The recommended level is 1. The hostile objective sets the real bar: a ship that can reach warp 80 and reliably beat level 43 hostiles.
An Old Friend rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Parsteel | 64,800,000 |
| 4★ Common Refined Ore | 340 |
Completing the mission also unlocks Genealogy.
An Old Friend and Doctor’s Appointment compared
An Old Friend follows Doctor’s Appointment, where you deliver Federation medical relief to a colony stricken with a mysterious illness. Both missions pass through Starbase 17 in Rua Ri:
| Mission | Warp to start / complete | Fights | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Doctor’s Appointment | 70 / 80 | Nausicaan Raider in Fect, about 2,726,322 | 160 Premium Recruit Token, 124,000 Officer XP |
| An Old Friend | 1 / 80 | 10 hostiles of level 43 or higher | 64,800,000 Parsteel, 340 4★ Common Refined Ore |
Doctor’s Appointment ends by delivering colonists to Starbase 17, and An Old Friend begins there by collecting Bones and Sulen. The earlier mission is built around one heavy fight; this one trades that for a hostile grind and pays far more in resources.
Tips
Plan the escort legs in one trip. Rua Ri, Luoman and Vita Nova come in order, so there is no reason to return to your station between them.
Bring a combat-ready ship for the escort. The hostile objective comes straight after the trip to Vita Nova, so the ship that finishes the escort is well placed to start the hunt without a detour home.
The 64.8 million Parsteel is the headline reward and covers a good share of upgrade costs at this stage. The 4★ Common Refined Ore is the scarcer resource, so keep it for the buildings that need it. More missions by level are on the mission guide.
