An Ancient Foe

An Ancient Foe is a Klingon storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command about the resurgence of an ancient and deadly enemy. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but it is picked up in Zlim’kach at warp 65, needs warp 70 to complete and asks for 20 hostiles of level 40 or higher plus a 2.5M Dilithium donation. The reward is a large batch of 4★ Interceptor Parts, and it unlocks The Great Tribble Hunt.

An Ancient Foe objectives

Four objectives, no choice split:

  • Investigate Tribble Prime. Location: Fafniri.
  • Track the warp trail to Stradania. Location: Stradania.
  • Donate 2.5M Dilithium for information on the ship.
  • Defeat 20 hostiles of level 40 or higher.

The investigation starts at Tribble Prime in Fafniri and follows a warp trail to Stradania. There you pay 2.5M Dilithium for information on the ship you are chasing. The mission ends with a hostile count rather than a single boss.

Where and what warp

An Ancient Foe is picked up in Zlim’kach and needs warp 65 to start. Warp 70 is needed to complete it.

The listed recommended level is 1. Warp 65 to start and level 40 hostiles are the real requirements, so plan by those.

The route is Zlim’kach to Fafniri, then on to Stradania. The hostile count has no system attached, so you can finish it wherever level 40 hostiles are easiest to find.

An Ancient Foe rewards

Reward Amount
4★ Uncommon Interceptor Parts 200
4★ Common Interceptor Parts 1,300

Completing it unlocks The Great Tribble Hunt.

The mission after it

Mission Recommended level Warp to complete Rewards
An Ancient Foe 1 70 200 4★ Uncommon Interceptor Parts, 1,300 4★ Common Interceptor Parts
The Great Tribble Hunt 1 75 6,000 Latinum, 180 4★ Uncommon Refined Crystal, 600 Klingon Credits, 311,000 Klingon Points

The Great Tribble Hunt starts from your station and adds only five warp to the finish, so it is a natural next step once An Ancient Foe is done.

Tips

Stock the Dilithium first. The 2.5M donation is the third step, and without it the mission stops at Stradania.

The 20 hostile kills are the longest part. Hostiles of level 40 or higher are the only ones that count, so pick a system where they are close together and stay there until the count is done.

The Interceptor Parts are the reason to run it. If you are upgrading an Interceptor-class ship, 1,500 4★ parts in one reward is a lot.
