A Fateful Challenge

A Fateful Challenge is a one-fight mission in Star Trek Fleet Command: go to Asronal and defeat the opponent known as The Ghost. It has a recommended level of 44 and needs warp 85 to both pick up and complete. The Ghost sits at roughly 154,890 strength, which is light for a level 44 player, so reaching Asronal is the real hurdle. The reward is 37,867,000 Parsteel, forty 3 Hour Speed Ups and 20 Recruit Tokens.

A Fateful Challenge objectives

There is a single objective and no choice split:

  • Defeat The Ghost. Location: Asronal. Enemy strength is roughly 154,890.

That is the whole mission. There is no donation, no kill count and no return trip listed. You pick the mission up in Asronal and win the fight there to complete it.

Where and what warp

The pickup system is Asronal, and both the start and the finish need warp 85. Because the pickup and the fight share a system, any ship that can reach the mission can also finish it.

The recommended level is 44. The Ghost’s strength is low for that level, so a ship with warp 85 range and a normal level 44 crew should not have trouble with it.

A Fateful Challenge rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 37,867,000
3 Hour Speed Up 40
Recruit Token 20

The forty 3 Hour Speed Ups add up to 120 hours, or five days off your timers.

Similar one-fight missions

A Fateful Challenge is the lowest-level mission in a small group that shares its format: a pickup system, one named opponent and a single fight. Current game data:

Mission Level Warp Opponent and strength Rewards
A Fateful Challenge 44 85 The Ghost, about 154,890, in Asronal 37,867,000 Parsteel, 40 3 Hour Speed Up, 20 Recruit Token
A Second Chance 46 130 The Demon, about 418,676, in X5-TKV 96,800,000 Parsteel, 36 15 Minute Repair Speed Up
Third Time’s the Charm 48 160 The Commander, about 1,075,836, in Neo’Tek 4,400,000 Dilithium, 300 Ship XP
Last Chance Saloon 49 185 The Beast, about 10,476,166, in Rek’Sgar 106,667,000 Parsteel, 160 4★ Common Explorer Parts, 40,000 Officer XP

Each step up the group asks for more warp and a stronger opponent. A Fateful Challenge is the easiest of the four by a wide margin, and it is the only one that pays 3 Hour Speed Ups.

Tips

Do it as soon as you reach warp 85. The fight is quick, the Parsteel is a solid top-up, and the speed ups are useful at any stage.

Save the 3 Hour Speed Ups for long timers. Forty of them are best spent on a big building or research job rather than scattered across small ones.

Plan your warp for the rest of the group. The next mission in this format needs warp 130, a large jump from 85. More missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
