The Path to Peace is a story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you thwart the assassination of the Federation President. The game lists a recommended level of 1, it starts at warp 1, and it needs warp 10 to complete. The action is at the peace conference on Rigel IV in the Rigel system, where you face General Chang at roughly 673,107 strength. The reward is 1,515,000 Parsteel. The Chang fight is the whole challenge.
The Path to Peace objectives
There are three objectives and no choice split:
- Go to the peace conference on Rigel IV. Location: Rigel.
- Defeat General Chang. Location: Rigel. Enemy strength is roughly 673,107.
- Return the delegates to your station.
The mission is compact. You arrive at the conference, beat General Chang in the same system, and take the delegates home. The fight is the only step that can hold you up.
Where and what warp
No pickup system is listed. The Path to Peace opens at warp 1 and needs warp 10 to complete, and Rigel is the only named system.
The recommended level is listed as 1. A warp 10 trip is easy to make early, but an enemy at about 673,107 strength is far above what an early fleet can beat, so the Chang fight is the real bar for this mission.
The Path to Peace rewards
The mission pays 1,515,000 Parsteel. The game data lists no follow-up mission unlocked by this one, so it closes out its storyline.
How it compares with the previous mission
The Path to Peace follows Knife in the Dark, which is set in the same area and uses the same warp. Current game data:
| Mission | Warp to complete | Objectives | Main fight | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Knife in the Dark | 10 | Return to the site of the attack in Rigel, follow the assassin to Zonu, defeat Valeris | Valeris (about 531,649) | 1,479,000 Parsteel |
| The Path to Peace | 10 | Go to Rigel IV, defeat General Chang, return the delegates | General Chang (about 673,107) | 1,515,000 Parsteel |
The two missions pay almost the same Parsteel. The Path to Peace has the stronger enemy, at roughly 140,000 more strength than Valeris, so a ship that only just beat Valeris may need upgrading first.
Tips
Bring your strongest combat ship to Rigel. General Chang is the only enemy and the whole mission hinges on beating him. Arrive fully repaired, since the fight comes right after the conference step.
Do not judge this mission by its warp. Warp 10 suggests an early mission, but the enemy strength is closer to what you meet much later. If the fight is out of reach, leave the mission in your log and come back once your fleet is stronger.
The final step takes the delegates to your station, so you finish docked and can repair straight away. The 1,515,000 Parsteel is a large sum at this stage and goes straight into station upgrades. Other missions by level are on the mission guide.
