The Outsider is a Klingon-side Star Trek Fleet Command mission where you help the Empire move a Romulan refugee who claims to have information on Romulan weapons technology. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 37 to complete. You collect the asylum seeker on Khitomer, destroy a dissident Klingon ship there and take the refugee, Elara, to safety on Ligotia in Jiwu’puH. The reward is 10,756,000 Parsteel, 317,000 Dilithium, 400 Klingon Credits and 60,000 Klingon Points, with a loss of 69,120 Romulan Points.

The Outsider objectives

There are three objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:

  • Collect the Romulan asylum seeker on Khitomer. Location: Khitomer.
  • Destroy the dissident Klingon ship. Location: Khitomer. Enemy strength is about 937,932.
  • Take Elara to a safe location on Ligotia. Location: Jiwu’puH.

Elara is waiting on Khitomer, and so is a dissident Klingon ship that has to be destroyed before the transfer can go ahead. The last leg takes Elara to Ligotia in the Jiwu’puH system.

Where and what warp

You can accept The Outsider at warp 1, and it needs warp 37 to complete. Khitomer and Jiwu’puH are the two systems.

The game lists a recommended level of 1. The dissident Klingon ship at about 937,932 strength and the warp 37 trip are what decide whether you can finish.

The Outsider rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 10,756,000
Dilithium 317,000
Klingon Credits 400
Klingon Points 60,000
Romulan Points -69,120

The negative Romulan Points figure is a loss on completion.

How it compares with The Mind’s Eye

The mission before this one, The Mind’s Eye, has you confront a Vulcan scout ship in Ok’Vak. Both carry a listed level of 1:

Mission Warp to complete Fight Rewards
The Mind’s Eye 31 Vulcan Vahklas in Ok’Vak (about 418,676) 237,000 Dilithium or 8,035,000 Parsteel, depending on your choice
The Outsider 37 Dissident Klingon ship in Khitomer (about 937,932) 10,756,000 Parsteel, 317,000 Dilithium, 400 Klingon Credits, 60,000 Klingon Points, -69,120 Romulan Points

The Outsider more than doubles the enemy strength of The Mind’s Eye, and it pays both Parsteel and Dilithium where The Mind’s Eye makes you choose one.

Tips

Bring a combat ship with a clear margin over 937,932 strength. The dissident ship is the only fight, and it stands between you and the refugee.

Check your warp. The jump from warp 31 in The Mind’s Eye to warp 37 here can catch out a ship that only just cleared the previous mission.

The 10.7 million Parsteel is a large payout for one fight. If you are building Romulan standing, note the 69,120 point loss.
