The Center of the Universe is a late-game Star Trek Fleet Command mission where you look for a way to communicate with the Crucible. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 70 to complete. You clear 15 hostiles of level 38 or higher, try to make contact with the Crucible in New Berlin and defeat a mercenary there before heading home. The reward is 37,260,000 Parsteel and 13 8 Hour Speed Ups, a big payout for one named fight.
The Center of the Universe objectives
There are four objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:
- Defeat 15 hostiles of Level 38 or higher.
- Try to communicate with the crucible. Location: New Berlin.
- Defeat the mercenary. Location: New Berlin. Enemy strength is about 1,969,977.
- Return to Your Station.
The mission opens with a hostile count that has no system set. After that you go to New Berlin, attempt contact with the Crucible and deal with the mercenary who shows up. The last step is the trip home.
Where and what warp
You can accept the mission at warp 1, but it needs warp 70 to finish. New Berlin is the only named system.
The game lists a recommended level of 1. The mercenary at about 1.97 million strength, the level 38 hostiles and the warp 70 range are the real requirements.

Awakening is where the Crucibles reactivate, and it ends with you approaching one in New Berlin. The Center of the Universe continues from there with the first attempt at contact. Uncommon Tongue follows with meetings in Yreva and Sileo and a Dilithium donation instead of a fight.
Tips
Clear the 15 hostiles first, anywhere you like, as long as they are level 38 or higher. Then repair before going to New Berlin.
Bring a combat ship with a clear margin over 1.97 million strength for the mercenary. It is the only named fight.
