Outsourcing is a standalone Augments mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, picked up in Raddan or Lydan with a recommended level of 1. It needs warp 17 to start and to complete. You use Khan’s experimental extractor to mine 300 corrupted data, fight off a pirate and its reinforcements in Lydan, and bring the data home. The reward is 12 each of 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore, Gas and Crystal, plus 1 Dark Matter and 30 Augment Points, which makes it a good source of refined material.
Outsourcing objectives
There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Mine 300 corrupted data.
- Defend your mining vessel against the pirate. Location: Lydan. Enemy strength is roughly 30,910.
- Defeat the pirate’s reinforcements. Location: Lydan. Enemy strength is roughly 30,910.
- Return the data to your station.
The mission mixes mining and combat. The first step is a mining job with no system attached in the data, and the second step names your mining vessel as the ship under attack, so the miner is the ship at the center of the story. Two fights follow in Lydan, both at about 30,910, and then the data goes back to your station.
Where and what warp
You can pick Outsourcing up in either Raddan or Lydan, and the data lists warp 17 both to start and to complete. Lydan is the only system named in the objectives. The mission ends with a return to your station.
The recommended level is listed as 1. The fights are the real requirement: two targets near 31,000 strength back to back.

Outsourcing has no unlock line in the data. It is a one-off mission rather than a chain part.
Outsourcing and On the Grapevine compared
Raddan and Lydan also offer On the Grapevine, another Augments mission at warp 17. Both pay 1 Dark Matter and 30 Augment Points, but the rest of the reward and the work involved differ.

Outsourcing costs nothing to run and pays refined material. On the Grapevine asks for 15,000 Tritanium up front, has one tougher fight, and pays Dilithium and repair speed ups. If you want Dark Matter from both, run both.
Tips
Do not treat this as a pure mining run. Two fights at about 30,910 follow the mining step, and the objective text puts your mining vessel at the center of them.
The refined material is the reason to run this one. You get 36 pieces of 3★ Uncommon refined resources in total, split evenly across ore, gas and crystal, with no donation or payment asked in return.
