Imperial Starfleet Exterminator

The Imperial Starfleet Exterminator is a Mirror Universe hostile that patrols Terran-held systems from level 35 to 65. It spawns only as an Interceptor, so an Explorer counters it. You will find it across Mirror space, from Mirror Sol at level 35 out to Mirror Thama at level 65. It drops Parsteel at the low levels and Raw Trellium-A higher up. Bring an Explorer, expect an early hull breach, and hit hard.

How to beat the Imperial Starfleet Exterminator

It only appears as an Interceptor, so bring an Explorer. Explorers beat Interceptors in the combat triangle, and there is no second hull variant to swap between as you climb, so one Explorer build carries you across the whole level range.

For the crew, put a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles in the chair and fill the other seats with officers that add damage or mitigation. If you are still in the early-game bracket, the cadet crew works: Cadet Kirk as captain with Cadet Spock and Cadet Uhura. For current best picks, check the Officer Tier List. Crews shift with the meta, so treat any named crew as a starting point rather than a fixed answer.

This ship also fights back with two abilities. Deadlock hull-breaches your ship at the start of combat and holds the breach for the whole fight. While you are breached, Dismantlement raises its weapon damage by 20% for the round and Photophobia raises its Isolytic Damage by 10%. Both trigger off the breach Deadlock already applied, so it comes out swinging harder than its base stats suggest. Favor a strong hull and fast damage to keep the fight short, and do not count on shield mitigation to save you once the breach lands.

An Explorer helps here beyond the triangle bonus. Explorers carry more hull than the other classes, which matters against a ship that breaches you on turn one and then times its heaviest hits for the Kinetic rounds. Repair between spawns rather than grinding through a breach, and level your ship close to the hostile’s level so its damage does not outrun your defense.

Where to find the Imperial Starfleet Exterminator

It sits in Mirror Universe systems and climbs with your warp range. The lowest spawns, at levels 35 and 40, sit at warp 50 in core Mirror systems like Mirror Sol and Mirror Andoria. From there it pushes deeper: level 45 at warp 75, the low-50s at warp 200, and the level 61 and 65 spawns out at warp 700 in Mirror Barklay and Mirror Thama. Warp gates your progress here, so the level you can reach usually depends on your ship’s warp range rather than your combat power. If you can make warp 200, the level 51 and 55 spawns in Mirror Babel and Mirror Inari are the practical sweet spot for steady kills before the jump to the warp 700 systems.

Level Warp Systems
35 50 Mirror Bajor, Mirror Sirius, Mirror Sol, Mirror Wolf
40 50 Mirror Alpha Centauri, Mirror Andoria, Mirror Archer, Mirror Axanar, Mirror Deneb, Mirror Nausicaa, Mirror Ordesia
45 75 Mirror Hann
51 200 Mirror Babel
55 200 Mirror Inari
61 700 Mirror Barklay
65 700 Mirror Thama

Rewards and what it drops

What it pays out depends on the level you attack. Low-level kills drop Parsteel, the base resource you always need for building and repairs. Higher levels drop Raw Trellium-A, a raw ore that feeds mid-game refining, so the deeper spawns are the ones worth farming if you are working toward those builds. Ship XP climbs steeply with level too, which makes the higher spawns useful for leveling a ship even when the resource payout stays modest.

Drop What it is
Parsteel Core building and ship-part resource, dropped at levels 35 to 40.
Raw Trellium-A A raw ore you refine into Trellium for mid-game builds, dropped at levels 40 to 65.

Imperial Starfleet Exterminator firing pattern

It carries one Energy weapon and a pair of Kinetic weapons. The Energy shot fires every round, while the two Kinetic weapons hit far harder but only fire every other round, so its big damage spikes land on alternating turns. Time repairs or extra mitigation for the Kinetic rounds.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 1 52,956 to 64,723 Every round 10% (1.5x)
Kinetic 2 145,249 to 177,527 Every other round 10% (1.5x)

The Terran Empire in Star Trek

The Mirror Universe is a parallel reality where the Terran Empire, a brutal human dictatorship, rules by conquest instead of the Federation’s cooperation. Its Imperial Starfleet flies the same hull designs as the prime universe but crews them with officers who climb the ranks through fear and assassination. Fans first saw the Empire in the Original Series episode “Mirror, Mirror,” and it returned across Deep Space Nine and Discovery. In Star Trek Fleet Command, Mirror hostiles like the Exterminator stand in for that militarized Starfleet spilling into your space.

Is the Imperial Starfleet Exterminator worth grinding?

It is a solid farm if you want Raw Trellium-A, Parsteel, or ship XP in the level 35 to 65 band. Bring an Explorer, match your warp to the level you want, and be ready for the opening hull breach so it does not catch you flat. For other Mirror targets, see the Mirror Universe hostiles hub. Keep the fight short and let the Explorer do its job.
