False Profits is a small mining mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 2. A struggling Mining Contractor wants to hire a mining ship to make his business look busy, and all you have to do is mine 10 Tritanium. It needs warp 5 to start and to finish, it can be picked up in any of 24 systems, and it pays 500 Parsteel. It is a quick filler job for a new account.
False Profits objectives
There is one objective and no choice split:
- Mine for 10 Tritanium.
No system is attached to the objective itself, and there is no combat, travel or return step. The mission is complete once the 10 Tritanium are mined.
Ten Tritanium is a very small amount, and the story line explains why: the contractor only wants his operation to look busy, so a token amount of mining is all he asks for. The reward is small to match.
Where and what warp
False Profits has an unusually long list of pickup systems. It is offered in 24 of them: Mayagrazi, Sverlov, Dalfa, Cospilon, Rabalon, Groshi, Aetisan, Mulk, Jobe, Bodex, Panuq, Falko, Taoji, Zorga, Wagirur, Iora, Hroga, Vinmaier, Vawur, Follin, Toshen, Klora, Cymon and Dolcan.
With that many pickup points, you do not need to travel to one specific system to accept it. Any of the 24 will do.
Warp is 5 to start and 5 to complete. The recommended level is 2, and the same warp 5 range covers both pickup and completion.
False Profits rewards
The only reward is 500 Parsteel. The mission lists no follow-up part.
False Profits and Malurian Tritanium compared
Both missions ask you to mine Tritanium at warp 5, and neither has a fight. They differ in level, in how much you mine and in what they pay.
| Mission | Recommended level | Warp to complete | Objective | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| False Profits | 2 | 5 | Mine for 10 Tritanium | 500 Parsteel |
| Malurian Tritanium | 8 | 5 | Mine 100 Tritanium | 2,400 Parsteel, 1 Encryption Key, 2 K’Bisch shards |
Malurian Tritanium asks for ten times as much Tritanium and pays far more, including officer shards. False Profits is the lighter job, available from 24 systems, while Malurian Tritanium is picked up in Maluria alone.
Tips
Send a mining ship. The only objective is mining, so a ship built for gathering finishes it without pulling your combat ship off hostiles.
Pick it up when you are already mining Tritanium. With 24 pickup systems, the mission is easy to accept from wherever you happen to be, and 10 Tritanium is a small target for any mining ship.
Do not expect much from it. Five hundred Parsteel helps a level 2 account with early upgrades, but the mission is worth running mainly because it costs almost nothing to complete. For more missions at this level, see the mission guide.
