Waste Management is a three-part mission chain in which you make contact with the Vaadwaur, help them find a home and reclaim the Underspace from the Malon, and then deal with Tarnos. All three parts are recommended for level 30. Part 1 is picked up in Think Tank and already needs warp 26 just to start; the later parts start at warp 1 and need warp 25 to 26 to complete. The chain pays 4,167,000 Parsteel, 725,000 Tritanium, 90,000 Dilithium, 94,000 Officer XP, 3★ ship parts and a Neelix shard. Two large donations are the main hurdle.
Waste Management at a glance
| Teil | Recommended level | Warp to complete | Key reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abfallwirtschaft Teil 1 | 30 | 26 | 4,167,000 Parsteel + 20,000 Ship XP |

| Waste Management Part 3 | 30 | 26 | 725,000 Tritanium + 1 Neelix shard |
Part 1 needs warp 26 to start, Parts 2 and 3 start at warp 1, and completing one part opens the next.
Abfallwirtschaft Teil 1
You pick this part up in Think Tank with orders to contact the Vaadwaur. That contact starts with a fight: you find a Vaadwaur ship in Razrom and disable it, then pay for decontamination devices and look for a planet where they could settle.
- Find a Vaadwaur ship in Razrom.
- Disable a Vaadwaur ship in Razrom (enemy strength ~153,150).
- Donate 1M Tritanium for decontamination devices.
- Follow directions to the potential colony, in Think Tank.
- Find the planet for the colony, in Tolonus.
Warp to start: 26. Warp to complete: 26. Rewards: 4,167,000 Parsteel, 20,000 Ship XP and 500 Klingonisch Recruit Token.
Waste Management Part 2
Next you help the Vaadwaur reclaim the Underspace. The Malon are in the way, first at the new colony site and then in Ba’Neth, where a message leads you to a Malon ship and its guard.
- Defeat a Malon ship in Tolonus (enemy strength ~133,290).
- Find the origin of the message, in Ba’Neth.
- Defeat 7 hostiles of level 30 or higher.
- Find the Malon ship in Ba’Neth.
- Defeat the Malon ship guard in Ba’Neth (enemy strength ~154,890).
Warp to complete: 25. Rewards: 90,000 Dilithium, 94,000 Officer XP and 240 3★ Explorer Parts.
Waste Management Part 3
The last part is about finding a way to deal with Tarnos. You bring a plan to the Vaadwaur in Razrom, then face Tarnos in Think Tank, where a Dilithium donation powers a shockwave before the final fights.
- Propose the plan to the Vaadwaur, in Razrom.
- Face Tarnos in Think Tank.
- Donate 200K Dilithium to create a shockwave.
- Defeat a hostile ship in Think Tank (enemy strength ~133,290).
- Defeat Tarnos’s forces in Think Tank (enemy strength ~154,890).
- Talk to Lieutenant Midral in Think Tank.
Warp to complete: 26. Rewards: 1 Neelix shard, 725,000 Tritanium and 390 3★ Battleship Parts.
Tips for completing Waste Management
Stockpile before you start. Part 1 asks for 1M Tritanium and Part 3 asks for 200K Dilithium. The Tritanium donation comes before any Tritanium reward, so it has to come from your own stores; the 90,000 Dilithium from Part 2 covers a little under half of the Part 3 donation.
Unusually, Part 1 needs warp 26 just to pick up, because the mission starts in Think Tank rather than near your Station. Check your range before you accept it.
The fights are all between about 133,000 and 155,000 strength, with the Vaadwaur ship in Part 1 and the Malon guard in Part 2 at the top of that band. Part 2 also needs 7 hostiles of level 30 or higher, and the objective does not tie them to a system.
Are the Waste Management rewards worth it?
On raw totals, yes. You put in 1M Tritanium and 200K Dilithium and get back 725,000 Tritanium, 90,000 Dilithium and 4,167,000 Parsteel, along with 94,000 Officer XP, 20,000 Ship XP and 630 3★ ship parts. The single Neelix shard is a small bonus. If you are short on Tritanium, the Part 1 donation is the step that will hold you up. For other level 30 chains, see the STFC mission guide.
