Volatile Market is the third mission of the Grotoq storyline in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 7. Grotoq has arranged for a private militia to guard his mining fleet from Nausicaan raids, and asks you to oversee the deal. The Yridian mercenary raises his price, takes your Parsteel and then opens fire. The mission needs only warp 1 to start and finish, and it pays an Ursprünge Saru shard, 75 Officer XP and 39 Dilithium.

Volatile Market objectives

There are four objectives and no choice split:

  • Escort Grotoq and his crew to the meeting.
  • Pay 2,650 Parsteel to the Mercenary.
  • Defeat Yerwahn. Enemy strength about 709.
  • Kehren Sie zu Ihrer Station zurück.

The agreed price was 1,100 Parsteel, but Yerwahn says you kept him waiting and demands 2,650. Grotoq’s mining party cannot cover it, so you pay. Yerwahn then locks weapons on you, calling the Klingonen not worth protecting. After the fight Grotoq swears never to trust another Yridian and promises your fee will be waiting at your station. Back home, Saru says Michael Burnham has shut herself in her quarters, and he plans to confine her to the Discovery while you deal with the Klingons.

Wo und welcher Warp

No pickup system or location is listed, and warp is 1 to start and finish. The recommended level is 7.

Yerwahn, at roughly 709 strength, is the only fight. The 2,650 Parsteel payment comes before it.

Volatile Market rewards

Belohnung Amount
Origins Saru shards 1
Officer XP 75
Dilithium 39

Completing it unlocks the next mission, Hoarder.

The Grotoq storyline at a glance

Bestellung Mission Recommended level Belohnungen
1 Suspicious Proposals 2 18 Tritanium, 400 Ship XP, 120 Parsteel
2 Resourceful Ally 4 Depends on the resource you mine
3 Volatile Market 7 1 Origins Saru shard, 75 Officer XP, 39 Dilithium
4 Hoarder 10 1,300 Tritanium, 9,000 Parsteel
5 Intuition 10 1 Origins Burnham shard, 90 Officer XP, 2 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups, 1 1 Hour Speed Up

Tips

Have 2,650 Parsteel ready. At level 7 that is a real amount, and the mission waits on it before the fight.

Expect the double-cross. The fight with Yerwahn follows the payment directly, so go in with a repaired ship.

The Origins Saru shard is the reason to push through. Every mission by level is on the mission guide, and Michael Burnham’s Origins version is at Ursprünge Burnham, the shard two missions later.
