The Vahklas is a grade 3 Common Explorer flown by the Independent faction in Star Trek Fleet Command. It unlocks at Shipyard level 22 and works as an early exploration hull whose ability sharpens its shots against Interceptors rather than turning it into a dedicated miner. For a common grade 3 ship, it fits best as an early combat pick and, later, as scrap feed for higher-grade builds.

How to get the Vahklas
You build the Vahklas at your Shipyard once it reaches level 22, and once you have finished the Grade 3 Ship Unlock research. The build needs 50 blueprints.
The build cost is 500,000 Tritanium and 20,000 Dilithium, and construction takes 6 days and 6 hours. Where the 50 blueprints come from changes as events and store stock rotate, so that channel is not fixed here. The Vahklas is scrappable once your Betrieb reach level 26, which matters more than the build itself for most accounts.
Vahklas ability
The Vahklas carries one always-active ship ability, Pinpoint Targeting. When the ship it is fighting is an Interceptor, Pinpoint Targeting raises the Vahklas’s Accuracy. That bonus starts at 10% at ship level 1 and climbs to 60% at level 45. Ship abilities like this run all the time, with no button to press.
Accuracy decides how many of your shots land cleanly instead of glancing, and Interceptors lean on dodge to shrug off hits. So the Vahklas does its best work pointed at an Interceptor, where the extra accuracy cancels some of that evasion. Against Explorers or Schlachtschiffe the ability sits idle, which is the trade for an Explorer hull that already counters Interceptors by type.
Stats and tiers
Base values below come from the current game Daten; research, buffs and officers raise them in play.
| Ebene | Warp (speed / range) | Impulse | Cargo (protected) | Shield HP | Hull HP | Health (displayed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 / 19 | 100 | 8,000 (200) | 5,560 | 2,930 | 4,245 |
| 5 | 3.4 / 23 | 100 | 16,820 (250) | 15,128 | 2,930 | 9,029 |
| 9 | 3.8 / 30 | 100 | 42,000 (400) | 26,470 | 2,930 | 14,700 |
The Vahklas leans on shields rather than hull to stay alive. Across its nine tiers the shield pool climbs from 5,560 to 26,470 while the base hull figure holds low, so its displayed Health rises mostly on the shield side. Cargo grows sharply too, from 8,000 up to 42,000 at tier 9, but protected cargo stays small at 400, which makes it a light hauler rather than a safe one.
Weapons and firing pattern
Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires; cool-down is how many rounds pass between shots after that. The Vahklas mounts three identical energy weapons, each firing every round from the first, so it puts three hits on the board per round.
| Waffe | Typ | Shots | Warm-up | Cool-down | Damage | Crit chance | Crit damage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Waffe 1 | Energie | 1 | 1 | 1 | 4,716–5,764 | 10% | 150% |
| Waffe 2 | Energie | 1 | 1 | 1 | 4,716–5,764 | 10% | 150% |
| Waffe 3 | Energie | 1 | 1 | 1 | 4,716–5,764 | 10% | 150% |
All three weapons match, so at tier 9 each lands for 4,716 to 5,764 damage before crits, with a 10% chance to crit for 150% damage. Pinpoint Targeting does not favor one weapon over another; its accuracy boost applies to the whole volley when the target is an Interceptor.
Crew slots and officer bonus
The Vahklas opens its first officer slot at ship level 5 and fills out a bridge of five by level 45.
| Ship level | Officer slots |
|---|---|
| 5 | 1 |
| 10 | 2 |
| 20 | 3 |
| 30 | 4 |
| 45 | 5 |
On top of the slots, the ship adds a bonus to the attack, defense and health stats of the officers you seat, and that bonus is the same for all three. It steps up as the total stat contribution of your seated officers grows, following the ladder below.
| Amount | Bonus (attack / defense / health) |
|---|---|
| 100 | 30% |
| 200 | 60% |
| 325 | 90% |
| 450 | 120% |
| 600 | 150% |
| 800 | 180% |
| 1,100 | 210% |
| 1,500 | 240% |
| 2,000 | 270% |
| 3,000 | 300% |
Crew for the Vahklas
Because Pinpoint Targeting only fires against Interceptors, the Vahklas rewards a bridge built around landing hits: officers that push weapon damage or accuracy stack cleanly on top of the ability’s evasion counter. As an Explorer, it already holds the type advantage over Interceptors, so a combat crew leans into that matchup instead of fighting it. For a grade 3 common hull, most players run whatever early officers they have leveled, then move the good ones onto a bigger ship once one is available. For current picks by tier, see the Officer Tier List. Crews shift with the meta, so treat any single lineup as a starting point rather than a fixed answer.
The Vahklas in Star Trek
The Vahklas is a real piece of Star Trek canon. It appeared in the Unternehmen episode “Fusion” as an aging Vulcan long-range vessel, crewed by a group of V’tosh ka’tur, Vulcans who had set logic aside to explore their emotions. In Star Trek Fleet Befehl the design is framed as a Vulcan transport built in the early 2100s and produced in numbers around Vulcan before the planet’s destruction, which is the game’s reason so many Independents still fly it.

Is the Vahklas worth it?
The Vahklas is an early-game grade 3 ship, so its ceiling is low and its stats fall off well before mid-game. Its one real draw is the anti-Interceptor accuracy buff, handy while you are still clearing early Interceptor hostiles and skirmishing in PvP with low-grade ships. Because you can scrap it once Operations hit level 26, it turns into parts and resources for a bigger build the moment you outgrow it. Chase it if you want the type-matchup edge early; skip it if you are already past its grade band.
