Texas-class Sentry

The Texas-class Sentry is a hostile Explorer-hull ship you fight from level 40 to 60. It spawns across twelve systems, from warp 60 at the low end up to warp 500 at level 60, and drops Neural Net Chips and Active Net Chips. The Sentry only ever appears as an Explorer, so a Battleship is the counter, and its always-on ability gives you an extra reason to bring one.

How to beat the Texas-class Sentry

The Sentry only appears as an Explorer, and Explorers are countered by Battleships, so bring a Battleship. The hull never changes as you climb the level range, so the same counter works from level 40 all the way to level 60. There is nothing to swap between spawns.

It carries an always-on ability called Burned in a Fire. When your attacker is a Battleship, the Sentry’s Isolytic Defense drops by 30% for the rest of the fight. That gives you a second reason to bring a Battleship: the class that counters its Explorer hull is also the class that pulls down its defense, so you hit harder for the whole battle.

For crew, keep it simple. Run a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles, backed by officers that add damage or mitigation. At these levels a cadet bridge is too thin to carry the fight, so build around your strongest damage captain and check the Officer Tier List for current picks. Crews shift with the meta, so treat any named lineup as a starting point.

Plan for a hard-hitting opponent. Its main kinetic gun is online from the first round, so a long, grinding fight favors the Sentry. A Battleship helps here too, since it soaks kinetic damage well and the defense cut from Burned in a Fire lets you push for a faster kill. Bring enough weapon power to end the fight before its damage stacks up.

Where to find the Texas-class Sentry

The Sentry clusters by level. The lowest spawns sit at level 40 near warp 60, and each step up the range raises the warp requirement, up to warp 500 for the level 60 version. The climb gets steep past level 50, where the warp cost roughly doubles between the low 50s and level 60, so early-to-mid game players will reach the level 40 to 50 spawns far more easily. Match your warp to the level you want before you set out.

Ebene Warp Systeme
40 60 Maelruan, Nonsuch
42 75 Tunicci
44 110 Abriluni
46 120 Brawowe, Hornebolte
48 160 Stetson
50 185 Quiparas
51 205 Elt-97
53 320 Mazai
55 320 Biscotti
56 355 Corvinus
58 440 Regiocomo
60 500 Medici

Rewards and what it drops

The Sentry drops two crafting materials, the Neural Net Chip and the Active Net Chip, both used in ship and building upgrades. They drop across the full level 40 to 60 band, so you can farm them at whatever level your fleet clears comfortably. Ship XP scales steeply too, from 1,502 at level 40 up to 11,904 at level 60, which makes the higher spawns handy for leveling a hull on the side.

Ablegen What it is
Neural Net Chip A crafting and upgrade material used to strengthen ships and buildings.
Active Net Chip A related upgrade material used in ship and building progression.

Texas-class Sentry stats

Stats vary by hull variant and climb steeply with level, so treat these as anchor points rather than exact figures for every spawn.

Texas-class Sentry firing pattern

The heaviest hits come from its kinetic weapons. The main kinetic gun is online from the first round, while a smaller, slower kinetic weapon has a longer warm-up and joins a few rounds in. Energy damage is the lightest of the three. All three weapons fire every round once they are active, so time your mitigation or repairs for when that main kinetic gun is landing.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energie 1 644,659-756,774 Every round 10% (1.5x)
Kinetic 1 966,989-1,135,161 Every round 10% (1.5x)
Kinetic 1 322,330-378,387 Every round 10% (1.5x)

The Texas-class in Star Trek

The Texas-class is a line of automated Starfleet ships from Star Trek: Lower Decks. Designed to run with no crew aboard, they were sold as a cheaper and safer way to handle Starfleet missions, with an onboard AI doing the work of a full bridge crew. The program’s flagship, the USS Aledo, turned on its own fleet after its controlling intelligence went rogue, and the crewed USS Cerritos had to bring it down. The class became a warning about handing combat decisions to an unsupervised machine, which suits how the Sentry fights in STFC: automated and relentless, willing to trade damage round for round.

Is the Texas-class Sentry worth grinding?

If you need Net Chips, the Sentry is a steady source across a wide level band, so you can farm it at whatever level your fleet clears cleanly and still pull the drops. The ship XP is a useful bonus if you are leveling a hull on the side. Before you warp out, match your warp range to the level you are after and bring a Battleship: it counters the Explorer hull and cuts the Sentry’s Isolytic Defense at the same time.
