Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon is an Epic Forbidden Tech in Star Trek Fleet Command, an artifact you slot onto a ship rather than a crew member. From the moment you unlock it, it adds Isolytic Cascade damage against Gorn Hunter hostiles, and as you tier it up it stacks large bonuses to hull health, Isolytic Defense and damage against all hostiles, up to +2,500% base damage vs hostiles at max. It also earns Isolytic Artifact tokens in the Forbidden Tech refinery. It is built for players who grind hostiles, and it rewards deep investment.
What Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon does
The piece carries four buffs that switch on at different tiers. The first, Isolytic Cascade against Gorn Hunters, is active from tier 1. The other three raise your hull health, your Isolytic Defense against hostiles and your damage against hostiles, and they climb to very large values once the item is fully tiered and leveled.
| Buff | Freigeschaltet ab Stufe | Unlock value | Max value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Isolytic Cascade vs Gorn Hunters | Stufe 1 | 7.5% | 50% |
| Base hull health | Stufe 3 | 100% | 2,500% |
| Isolytic Defense vs hostiles | Stufe 6 | 10% | 80% |
| Base damage vs hostiles | Stufe 8 | 150% | 2,500% |
Values are current as of the latest game update. Unlocking the item also gives you Isolytic Artifact tokens in the Forbidden Tech refinery, and that payout increases with the item’s tier.
At low tiers the item is a narrow Gorn Hunter tool. Past tier 8, the hull and damage bonuses turn it into a broad hostile-grinding buff that helps against any hostile, not only the Gorn.
Isolytic weapons in STFC: damage, cascade and defense
If you searched for isolytic weapons in general, these are the three stats the game uses, and Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon touches two of them.
| Stat | Was es bewirkt |
|---|---|
| Isolytische Schädigung | A separate damage stat that ships, Offiziere and hostiles can raise, often at the start of combat. |
| Isolytic Cascade | Multiplies your total damage, including Isolytic Damage and all research and other bonuses. This is the Gorn Hunter buff on Tarka’s weapon. |
| Isolytic Defense | The defensive side. Many late-game hostiles raise their own Isolytic Defense, and Tarka’s weapon raises yours against hostiles from tier 6. |
Because Isolytic Cascade multiplies everything else you bring, even a modest percentage scales well on a ship that already hits hard.
How to get Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon
You unlock Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon in the Forbidden Tech tab of the Raffinerie using Epic Forbidden Fragments. The game says those fragments come from Q’s Trials and from special rewards. Before you can equip any Forbidden Tech, you also need a free Forbidden Tech slot on the ship, which you open with Fusion Rods. The same rods remove a piece from a ship if you want to move it later. Fusion Rods come from the Forbidden Tech refinery and the store. The Forbidden Tech guide explains the slot system and every other piece.
Upgrading Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon
Upgrades run on two tracks. Tiers raise the item’s level cap and switch on the later buffs, so the hull bonus arrives at tier 3, the Isolytic Defense bonus at tier 6 and the damage bonus at tier 8. Levels then scale each active buff toward its max value. You tier up with Forbidden Tech Reactor and Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst, and you level up with Forbidden Tech Reactor and Forbidden Tech Protomatter.
| Ebene | Level cap | Tier-Up-Kosten |
|---|---|---|
| Stufe 1 | 5 | Starting tier |
| Stufe 7 | 35 | 32 Reactor, 9,900 Tier-Up Catalyst |
| Stufe 12 | 60 | 32 Reactor, 11,500 Tier-Up Catalyst |
Reaching max tier 12 costs 352 Forbidden Tech Reactor and 161,550 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst in total. Leveling all the way to level 60 costs 1,856 Forbidden Tech Reactor and 1,305,350 Forbidden Tech Protomatter.
Where the materials come from, per the game’s own descriptions:
- Forbidden Tech Reactor comes from Daily Goals and the store.
- Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst comes from the Forbidden Tech refinery and the store.
- Forbidden Tech Protomatter comes from Q’s Trials and the store.
- Probability Devices, earned as rewards and sold in the store, raise the success chance on an upgrade attempt.
The big targets are tier 3 for the hull bonus and tier 8 for the damage bonus. The level ranges that matter most are 35 to 60, where the damage bonus climbs from 150% to 2,500%.
Best ships and uses for Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon
This is a Hostiles piece, so it belongs on the ship your best hostile-grinding crew flies. The hull, Isolytic Defense and damage buffs all apply against hostiles, which makes it a strong general farming artifact once it is tiered up. The Isolytic Cascade against Gorn Hunters is the standout early on, so if you spend time clearing Gorn Hunters for loot or event points, this piece pays off fastest there. For picking targets and building a grinding crew, see the Feind-Guide.
Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon in Star Trek
The weapon comes from the fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery. Ruon Tarka, a scientist working alongside the Federation, designed an isolytic device to destroy the Dark Matter Anomaly threatening the galaxy. Isolytic weapons tear subspace itself, which is why they were banned under the Second Khitomer Accords, and Tarka built his against the Federation’s orders. His plan failed. The game’s story imagines his schematics being illicitly repurposed for starships, with the same risk the show warned about: a cascading subspace burst that can do lasting damage to subspace as well as to the target.
Is Tarka’s Isolytic Weapon worth it?
If hostile farming is a real part of how you play, this is a strong Episch piece to chase, and it is the obvious pick for anyone grinding Gorn Hunters. The hull and damage bonuses only matter once you push past tier 3 and tier 8, so plan for a long upgrade road. Casual players who rarely grind hostiles can leave it for later and spend their fragments elsewhere.
