Sonnenflecken-Pirat

The Sunspot Pirate is a Neutral Interceptor hostile that spawns at levels 50 to 52 in neutral space, every target sitting at warp 105. It appears only as an Interceptor, so an Explorer is the ship to bring. It drops 5-star Broken Interceptor Parts, the material you refine to build and upgrade 5-star Abfangjäger-Schiffe. Match its warp, bring the right hull, and it goes down quickly.

How to beat the Sunspot Pirate

The Sunspot Pirate only spawns as an Interceptor, so the counter is simple: bring an Explorer. Explorers out-damage Interceptors in the ship-type triangle, and because this hostile never changes hull across its level band, you never have to swap ship classes between level 50 and 52. A well-built Explorer at or above the target’s level will win the exchange without much trouble.

This ship carries one always-active combat ability, Battleship Exploitation, which raises its damage against Schlachtschiffe by 50% for the first five rounds of combat. That only matters if you attack it with a Battleship, which is the wrong hull here anyway. An Explorer sidesteps the ability, so it has no effect on the fight you actually want.

For crew, the principle is the same one that carries most hostile grinding: a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles, backed by Offiziere that add damage or mitigation. The best specific picks shift with the meta and with what you have leveled, so check the current Officer Tier List for the strongest options at your roster level. Crews change as new officers arrive, so treat any single recommendation as a starting point.

Where to find the Sunspot Pirate

The Sunspot Pirate clusters in the same stretch of neutral systems across all three levels, and every spawn sits at warp 105. Levels 50 and 51 share a tight core of systems, while level 52 spreads across a wider set. Set your warp to 105 and any system in the table below will have targets. For the fastest farming, pick the lowest level your Explorer clears comfortably and stay in a system where the target density is high.

Ebene Warp Systeme
50 105 Callicoat, Dela, Eady, Erendari, Merius, Sosain
51 105 Callicoat, Dela, Eady, Erendari, Merius, Omana, Scanlon, Sosain
52 105 Bell’eu, Callicoat, Dela, Eady, Erendari, Merius, Omana, Sauchei, Scanlon, Sosain

Rewards and what it drops

The Sunspot Pirate drops a single resource, and it is the reason to farm it. The parts arrive as “Broken” components: you feed them into your Raffinerie to yield usable Interceptor parts, which then go toward building and tiering up your 5-star Interceptor hulls. Ship XP also climbs with level, so higher-level kills push your ship progression faster.

Ablegen What it is
5-star Broken Interceptor Parts (122–208) Raw material you refine into parts for building and tiering up 5-star Interceptor-class ships.

Sunspot Pirate stats

Stats vary by hull variant and climb steeply with level, so a level 52 target is far tougher than a level 50 one even though the hull is the same.

Sunspot Pirate firing pattern

The Sunspot Pirate fires two weapon groups, and both hit every other round rather than every round. The three Kinetic weapons are the heavy punch, landing well above the single Energy shot, so time your repairs or mitigation for the rounds it fires. Because nothing hits every round, an Explorer gets breathing room between volleys.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energie 1 207,476–253,582 Every other round 10% (1.8x)
Kinetic 3 497,941–608,601 Every other round 10% (1.8x)

Neutral pirates in Star Trek Fleet Command

The Sunspot Pirate is not tied to the Federation, Klingonisch, or Romulan powers. It roams neutral space as one of the game’s independent raiders, the freebooters and marauders that work the shipping lanes far from the major factions. Fighting it does not cost or earn reputation with any of the three main factions, so you can grind it without touching your standing anywhere. That makes it a low-consequence target: you are farming parts and XP, not picking a political side. Like most neutral raiders, it hits hard for its level but brings no faction fleet to back it up, so a solo Explorer run is all it takes.

Is the Sunspot Pirate worth grinding?

If you are building or upgrading a 5-star Interceptor, yes. It is a clean source of 5-star Broken Interceptor Parts and gives steady ship XP across levels 50 to 52. If you have no Interceptor project running, there is little else here to pull you back. Match warp 105, bring an Explorer, and farm the level that fits your ship.
