Reverse Engineering is a Borg-themed story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you gather Inert Nanoprobes for Serinn’s research into the assimilation process. It can be accepted at warp 1, needs warp 18 to complete, and has a recommended level of 1. You head to Benes Alpha, harvest 5,000 Inert Nanoprobes from Borg hostiles, then return home and donate them. The reward is 2,504,000 Parsteel, 74,000 Dilithium and 18 3★ Ungewöhnlich Refined Crystal.
Reverse Engineering objectives
There are four objectives, in order, with no choice split:
- Go to Benes Alpha. Location: Benes Alpha.
- Harvest 5,000 Inert Nanoprobes from enemy Borg hostiles.
- Kehren Sie zu Ihrer Station zurück.
- Donate 5,000 Inert Nanoprobes to Serinn.
The mission is a collect-and-deliver job. Benes Alpha is the only named system. The nanoprobes come from fighting Borg hostiles, and once you have 5,000 of them you bring them back to your station and hand them to Serinn.

No pickup system is listed, and warp 1 is enough to accept the mission. Warp 18 is needed to complete it, since the first objective takes you out to Benes Alpha. The recommended level is 1, but the real requirement is being able to beat Borg hostiles often enough to collect 5,000 nanoprobes.

Tips
The 5,000 Inert Nanoprobes are the whole cost of this mission. You harvest them from Borg hostiles, then give the same 5,000 away to Serinn at the end, so none of them stay with you. Think of the reward as payment for that haul rather than as loot on top of it.
Bring a combat ship that can handle Borg hostiles. Harvesting is done by defeating them, and 5,000 nanoprobes means a fair number of fights. A ship that wins those fights quickly and cleanly will finish this much faster than one that needs a repair after every kill.
The trip home is its own objective. After harvesting, the mission sends you back to your station before the donation, so dock, repair, and then make the donation from there.
The reward is heavy on Parsteel, at over 2.5 million, with 74,000 Dilithium alongside. The 18 3★ Uncommon Refined Crystal is the smallest line, and it goes toward any upgrade on your list that asks for 3★ refined crystal. Set against 5,000 harvested nanoprobes, the Parsteel and Dilithium are what make the effort pay.
