R&D Department Level 47 is a late station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with one objective: upgrade the F&E-Abteilung to level 47. It needs only warp 1 to start and finish, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 100 100K Dilithium Tokens and 60 8 Hour Speed Ups, and finishing it unlocks Schiffshangar Level 47. The upgrade is expensive and slow, so the reward softens a very large bill.

The R&D Department raises your Research Speed Bonus with every level. It is 137% at level 45 and 170% at level 50.

The speed ups hold steady at 60 through this range while the Dilithium tokens grow. From Level 51 onward the R&D Missionen switch to 800 Ultra Recruit Tokens instead.
Tips
The 10 million Dilithium covers under a tenth of the 117 million the upgrade asks for, so treat it as help toward Level 48 rather than a refund.
Spend the 20 days of speed ups where they cut the most real time. An R&D upgrade measured in hundreds of days is a natural target.
