Plausible Cover is a one-step mining mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 8. You pick it up in Yridia, warp 5 covers both the start and the finish, and the only objective is to mine 100 Tritanium. The reward is 2,400 Parsteel, 1 Encryption Key and 2 Helvia shards. For a single small mining job, that is a good return.
Plausible Cover objectives
The mission has a single objective and no choice split:
- Mine 100 Tritanium.
The story gives the mining a purpose. You are running a mining operation in the contested Yridian mining zones as cover, so that nobody notices a narcotics drop-off happening nearby. In practice that means one mining job: 100 Tritanium and you are done. There is no fight and no travel step beyond the pickup.

You accept Plausible Cover in Yridia. Warp 5 is listed both to start and to complete, so a ship that can reach Yridia has all the range the mission needs. The mining objective does not name a system, so the 100 Tritanium can come from wherever you normally mine it. The recommended level is 8.

Tips
Use a mining ship, or whatever ship you normally mine with. The only task is to mine 100 Tritanium, which is a small amount, so it will not tie up the ship for long.
Mine close to Yridia if you can. The mission starts there, and the mining objective has no fixed location, so keeping the trip short is the easiest way to save time.
The Helvia shards are the reason to run it. Two shards for 100 Tritanium is a low price, and the Encryption Key comes with them. The 2,400 Parsteel is a small extra on top.
Since there is no combat at all, your ship’s strength does not matter here. What matters is reaching Yridia at warp 5 and mining 100 Tritanium.

Plausible Cover is the only one of the three with no fight and no second system to visit.
