Auftrag Jagd auf den Jäger

Hunting the Hunter is an early-game story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, aimed at players around Operations level 2. It picks up soon after the Origin Sector arc: a Starfleet agent needs help working a crime scene one system out from home, and the trail ends with a fight back at your own station. Finishing it hands over Officer XP, 1★ Battleship parts, and a repair speed-up, and it opens the rest of the five-mission Hunting the Hunter arc.

Hunting the Hunter objectives

The mission runs through four objectives in order:

  • Escort the Starfleet agent to the crime scene, one system away from your home base.
  • Defeat 10 hostiles of level 2 or higher.
  • Return to your station in your home system.
  • Disable the witness’ ship, an Interceptor sitting at roughly 162 power, in your home system.

The first step is a travel objective, so the agent moves with you once you warp out. The kill count fills on any qualifying hostiles you find along the way, and the last two steps both resolve at home, so the mission loops back to where it started.

There are two separate combat steps in this mission. The middle objective is a grind against any 10 hostiles at level 2 or higher, while the final objective is a single scripted fight against the witness’ ship. Clearing the grind does not finish the last step, so plan for both fights rather than treating them as one.

Wo und welcher Warp

Hunting the Hunter is built for Operations level 2, which makes it one of the first story missions most players reach. The crime scene sits one system away, so the warp to start and the warp to complete are both 1. You never travel far, and the closing fight against the witness’ ship happens inside your home system. A low warp and a low level requirement mean you can clear it without much setup.

Hunting the Hunter rewards

Completing the mission gives:

  • 150 Officer XP
  • 19 1★ Battleship parts
  • 1 × 15 Minuten Reparaturbeschleunigung

It also unlocks the next mission in the chain, Filling in the Gaps. Hunting the Hunter is the first of five missions in the arc, so clearing it opens the path to the rest of the story.

Tips

Crew a ship for hostile grinding before you start, because the middle objective asks for 10 kills against level 2 or higher targets, and that is the slowest step if you are underpowered. For the final target, the witness’ ship is an Interceptor at about 162 power, so a Battleship-class hull gives you the hull-type advantage and a faster finish. Everything stays within one warp of home, so there is no need to stockpile fuel or plan a long route. The return-to-station step costs you nothing but a warp home, which leaves the two combat objectives as the only real work. If you have just wrapped the Origin Sector arc, you are already in the right level range to move straight into this one. As an Operations level 2 mission, it lands early enough that the 1★ Battleship parts and Officer XP are useful for your first real ship builds.
