It Came From Deep Space is a short early mission in Star Trek Fleet Command and the opening step of the arc that shares its name. You pick it up in Obilent oder Labac, trace a strange signal through two neutral systems, and hand over 2,500 Dilithium on the way. Warp 12 covers the whole run, and finishing pays 5,000 Tritanium plus fourteen speed ups.

There is no fight in it. Every objective is travel, a delivery, or a return trip, so the only real gate is whether your warp range reaches 12 and whether you have the Dilithium on hand when the informant asks for it.

It Came From Deep Space objectives

Four objectives, in this order:

  • Find the object in Deneva (travel to Deneva)
  • Pay 2,500 Dilithium for information on the signal (delivery)
  • Track the signal to Cita Laga (travel to Cita Laga)
  • Rückkehr zu Ihrer Station

No choice split appears anywhere in the mission, so every player runs the same four steps and collects the same payout. The last objective is the one people forget: the reward does not land when you reach Cita Laga, it lands when your ship is back at your station. Recall it as soon as the signal reads, or the mission sits open in your log while you wonder what you missed.

Wo und welcher Warp

The mission shows up in Obilent and Labac, and both the pickup and the completion sit at warp 12. That single number is what to plan around, because the two destination systems fall inside the same range.

Deneva and Cita Laga are level 15 neutral systems. Neutral space means no faction hit for flying through, and at level 15 the local hostiles are far below what a ship with warp 12 can handle, so the trip itself is quiet.

Because the mission appears in two systems, you do not have to fly to a specific pickup point. Whichever of Obilent or Labac you are closer to when you go looking for it works the same way, and the objectives that follow are identical either way.

It Came From Deep Space rewards

Completing the mission pays:

  • 5.000 Tritan
  • 7 x 1 Stunde Speed Up
  • 7 x 15 Minuten Reparaturbeschleunigung

It also opens the next mission in the arc, You Can Count on Me. Against the 2,500 Dilithium you spend, the Tritanium alone puts you ahead at this stage of the game, and the seven hours of general speed ups matter more than the Tritanium if you have a long research or building timer running.

Tips

Bank the Dilithium before you start. The mission stalls at the second objective if you cannot cover the 2,500, and early accounts burn Dilithium fast on research. Check the balance first and the rest of the mission runs without a pause.

Confirm warp 12 before accepting. If your range falls short, the mission sits in your log until you push warp research or move to a hull with more reach.

Send a survey ship or whatever hull has the range, not your best combat build. Nothing here shoots at you, so speed and warp range beat weapon damage.

Save the repair speed ups rather than spending them the moment they land. Seven of them clear most low-level repair timers outright, which is worth more later when you start losing ships to hostiles well above your grade.
