The Genesis Device is a Rare Chaos Tech artifact that slots onto a ship and sharpens the SS Revenant for Borg armada fights. It adds extra shots against Borg Type 03 Solo Armadas, piles on critical damage against Borg Polygon Armadas, and from tier 2 it grants a large boost to base ship health. This is a specialist piece built around one ship and one job, and it rewards players who already fly the Revenant against Borg targets.

What Genesis Device does

Genesis Device carries three buffs. Two are tuned to the SS Revenant in specific Borg armada fights, and the third raises base ship health once you reach tier 2. The two Revenant buffs are what give the piece its identity: more shots per round against Borg Type 03 Solo Armadas, and a steep critical damage bonus against Borg Polygon Armadas.

Buff Unlocks at tier Unlock value Max value
Extra SS Revenant shots vs Borg Type 03 Solo Armadas Stufe 1 1 10
Critical damage for the SS Revenant vs Borg Polygon Armadas Stufe 1 4% 300%
Base ship health (SHP) Stufe 2 45% 1,500%

At max level the extra shots and the 300% critical damage turn the Revenant into a much faster armada killer, and the base health bonus keeps it alive through longer runs. The extra shots matter most against Borg Type 03 Solo Armadas, where more volleys per round mean more damage before the target hits back. All three values are current as of the latest game data.

How to get Genesis Device

Genesis Device is Chaos Tech, so it lives in the Continuum system rather than the standard Forbidden Tech refinery. You build and unlock Chaos Tech through the Continuum refinery, exchanging Chaos Tech Fragments into the materials the piece needs. You earn those Fragments when you pick up excess Chaos Tech shards. To fit the piece to a ship you spend Chaos Tech Fusion Rods, which unlock a Chaos Tech slot and can also remove Chaos Tech from a ship later. Fusion Rods come from the Continuum refinery or the store.

Upgrading Genesis Device

Chaos Tech upgrades along two tracks. Tiers raise the level cap and unlock later buffs: the base ship health bonus stays inactive until you tier the piece up to tier 2. Levels then scale each buff toward its maximum at level 60. You tier up with Chaos Tech Tier-Up Catalyst, and you level up with Chaos Tech Reactor and Chaosmatter.

Ebene Level cap Kosten
Stufe 1 5 Starting tier, no cost
Stufe 7 35 9,200 Chaos Tech Tier-Up Catalyst
Stufe 12 60 10,300 Chaos Tech Tier-Up Catalyst

Reaching max tier costs 92,900 Chaos Tech Tier-Up Catalyst in total. Taking the piece from level 2 to level 60 costs 59,825 Chaos Tech Reactor and 139,900 Chaosmatter. You gather Chaosmatter and Chaos Tech Reactor by defeating Assimilated El-Aurian hostiles and exchanging their loot in the Continuum refinery, or by buying them from the store.

Best ships and uses for Genesis Device

Both damage buffs name the SS Revenant, so the piece only earns its keep on that ship. Its target is Borg armadas: the extra shots apply against Borg Type 03 Solo Armadas, and the critical damage applies against Borg Polygon Armadas. If you run the Revenant as a solo armada ship against Borg targets, Genesis Device is close to a best-in-slot pick. The base ship health bonus helps any ship it sits on, but the two headline buffs are locked to the Revenant, so slotting this piece anywhere else wastes most of its value.

Genesis Device in Star Trek

The Genesis Device comes straight from the films. In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Dr. Carol Marcus and her son David lead the Genesis Project, a way to reorganize matter at the subatomic level and turn a lifeless world into a living, M-class planet. The same reaction that creates life can destroy it, since the device rewrites whatever body it touches, occupied or not. Khan Noonien Singh seizes the prototype after his attack on the Regula I station and treats it as a weapon of mass destruction. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock then follows the unstable planet that Genesis creates and the cost of having used the device at all.

Is Genesis Device worth it?

For a Borg armada Revenant crew, yes. As a Rare piece it is cheaper to chase and level than an Epic, and its buffs point at a clear job. If you fly the SS Revenant against Borg Type 03 and Polygon Armadas, tier it to 2 for the health bonus and level it as far as your Chaosmatter and Reactor income allows. If you do not run the Revenant in Borg armadas, spend your Continuum materials on a piece you will actually use.
