Old Acquaintances is a short early mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you follow Mudd’s trail and decide how to get information out of a dockmaster. It has a recommended level of 3, and it starts and finishes at warp 1. Halfway through, the mission splits: pay 50 Parsteel for the information, or fight a dock guard for it. The rewards are small either way, and finishing it unlocks A New World, A Violent World.

Old Acquaintances objectives

The first four objectives are the same for everyone:

  • Go to Mudd’s last known location.
  • Attempt to trace Mudd’s warp path.
  • Follow the mercenary’s directions.
  • Wie sollten wir die Informationen erhalten?

No systems are named for these steps. The fourth objective is the choice split, and the rest of the mission depends on which option you pick.

Path 1: pay for the information

  • Donate 50 Parsteel for the information.
  • Follow the dockmaster’s directions.
  • Return to the dockmaster.

Rewards for this path: 25 Ship XP and 9 Dilithium.

Path 2: fight for the information

  • Defeat the dock guard. Enemy strength is roughly 230.
  • Follow the dockmaster’s directions.
  • Kehren Sie zu Ihrer Station zurück.

Rewards for this path: 140 Parsteel and 75 Officer XP.

The paying route costs 50 Parsteel and ends back at the dockmaster. The fighting route costs nothing but a short battle and ends at your station.

Wo und welcher Warp

Old Acquaintances starts at warp 1 and completes at warp 1, with no pickup system named. The recommended level is 3, so it fits into the first few hours of play.

The dock guard on Path 2 has a strength of about 230, which is well within reach of a starting ship.

Old Acquaintances rewards

Path Kosten Belohnungen
Path 1: pay the dockmaster 50 Parsteel 25 Ship XP, 9 Dilithium
Path 2: defeat the dock guard A fight at ~230 strength 140 Parsteel, 75 Officer XP

Both paths unlock the next mission, Eine neue Welt, eine gewalttätige Welt.

Welchen Weg du wählen solltest

Path 2 is the better deal for most players. You spend no Ressourcen, you come out with 140 Parsteel, which more than makes up for the 50 Parsteel Path 1 asks for, and the 75 Officer XP helps your early crew level up. The fight at roughly 230 strength is small.

Path 1 makes sense only if you want the Dilithium or your ship is damaged and you would rather not fight. Nine Dilithium and 25 Ship XP are modest, and you pay 50 Parsteel to get them.

What comes next

The next mission is a big step up. A New World, A Violent World has a recommended level of 40, needs warp 70 to complete and asks for a 750,000 Dilithium donation plus ten level 39+ hostile kills. Its rewards include 700 3★ Interceptor Parts and 17 8 Hour Speed Ups. Expect it to sit in your log for a long time after you finish Old Acquaintances.

Tips

Take the fight. The dock guard is weak, and Path 2 gives you more Parsteel than Path 1 costs, plus Officer XP.

Do not wait on the next mission. A New World, A Violent World is a level 40 mission, so finish Old Acquaintances for its small rewards and move on to other early missions on the Missionsleitfaden.

Harry Mudd, whose trail this mission follows, is also available as an officer.
