A Crime of Passion is a two-part murder mystery in which Detective Jacobs hires you to back him up on a case: Irene Hamilton’s death was ruled natural causes, but her husband is not convinced. Your scan finds a slow-acting plant toxin, and three friends who were at her dinner party become suspects. Both parts are recommended for level 65, and the chain reaches warp 1,300 from its pickup in Mectuna. Rewards are Raw Σ-Parsteel plus either Raw Σ-Tritanium or Raw Σ-Dilithium, about 2.4 million raw Σ-resources in total. There is only one fight, and your accusation in Part 2 decides both the ending and one reward.

Help solve a mysterious death. The coroner will only let you scan the body for a price, and the scan turns up a toxin from the local Segnesia plant, given about two days before Irene died. That points to the guests at her dinner party.

Tips for completing A Crime of Passion
Spoiler for the mystery: Elinor is the killer. Accusing her ends with a confession and her arrest in Mectuna. Accusing Will or Marta sends you after an innocent suspect, and by the time you look for Elinor she has fled. The rewards differ only in the second resource, so the choice comes down to whether you want Raw Σ-Tritanium (Elinor) or Raw Σ-Dilithium (Will or Marta).
Budget 50M Tritanium for the coroner’s bribe at the start of Part 1. Every other Part 1 step is conversation between Mectuna and Kreonta.
The only fight is the shuttle chase in Karane at about 4.5 billion strength, which is light for level 65. Whichever suspect you accuse runs, and you have to disable their shuttle. There are no faction points in either part, so this chain is safe to run whatever your alliances. Kreonta is also where the level 66 Cover-Up chain begins.
Are the A Crime of Passion rewards worth it?
