Assimilated Ferengi Miner

The Assimilated Ferengi Miner is a Borg Survey-class hostile that spawns in two level bands: a low band from level 25 to 31 and a high band from level 40 to 42. Because it uses a Survey hull, it barely fights back, which makes it one of the easier Borg targets to farm. The low band drops Raw Latinum and the high band drops 4-Star Broken Survey Parts. To beat one, match its warp range and send almost any armed ship.

How to beat the Assimilated Ferengi Miner

Combat in STFC runs on a rock-paper-scissors triangle. Interceptors beat Battleships, Battleships beat Explorers, and Explorers beat Interceptors. Survey ships sit outside that triangle because they barely fight.

The Assimilated Ferengi Miner only ever spawns as a Survey hull, so you do not need to counter a specific class here. It has almost no offense, so any combat ship you can field at the right level will win with little damage in return. Bring a Battleship, Explorer, or Interceptor rated for the band you are hitting and you will come out fine. This is what makes Survey hostiles good early farms: the fight is more about your warp range and cargo than about picking the perfect hull.

Crew still helps you clear faster. Use a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles, then fill the other seats with officers that add damage. At the level 25 to 31 band an early cadet crew works well: Cadet Kirk as captain with Cadet Spock and Cadet Uhura. Crews shift with the meta, so check the current picks on the Officer Tier List before you commit to a build.

Where to find the Assimilated Ferengi Miner

The Assimilated Ferengi Miner clusters in two warp ranges with a gap in between. The low band sits at warp 22 across single systems near levels 25 to 31, and the high band moves out to warp 24 for the level 40 to 42 spawns. There is no continuous run of levels between the two bands, so pick the band you can reach and match your warp before you travel. A ship set up for the warp 22 systems may not make the warp 24 spawns without a refit.

Level Warp Systems
25 22 Yoria-3
28 22 Torra Sedra
31 22 Zed Alpha
40–42 24 Voluptas, Zhaishka

Rewards and what it drops

The Assimilated Ferengi Miner pays out different resources depending on the band you farm. The low-level spawns drop Raw Latinum, while the high-level spawns drop 4-Star Broken Survey Parts. Ship XP is small on this target and mostly a side benefit, so grind it for the resources rather than to level a hull.

Drop What it is
Raw Latinum The unrefined form of Latinum, refined into the currency used in the Latinum store and some event buys (1,125 to 11,001 per kill at levels 25 to 31).
4-Star Broken Survey Parts Repair parts used to upgrade high-tier survey (mining) ships (108 to 218 per kill at levels 40 to 42).

The Borg in Star Trek

The Borg are a cybernetic collective that assimilates other species and their technology into a single hive mind linked across the galaxy. First encountered by the crew of the USS Enterprise-D, they absorb ships, crews, and knowledge, then rebuild what they capture into Borg tools. An Assimilated Ferengi Miner began as a Ferengi mining vessel before the Collective took it over, fused its systems with Borg circuitry, and set it to gathering resources under drone control. In the game that history shows in its build: a survey hull with heavy defenses but little firepower, closer to a harvester than a warship.

Is the Assimilated Ferengi Miner worth grinding?

Yes, for what it is. The Assimilated Ferengi Miner is a low-risk farm because its Survey hull barely shoots back, so you can clear it with a wide range of ships. Run the level 25 to 31 band for Raw Latinum and the level 40 to 42 band for 4-Star Broken Survey Parts. It gives little ship XP, so do not lean on it to level a hull. Match your warp to the band you can reach, and send any armed ship you have on hand.
