A Sleeping Giant is an Outlaw storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you defend Ro’s and Goon’s bases from Eclipse. It is recommended for level 29, can be picked up at warp 1 and needs warp 24 to finish, with stops in Kuzukoh and Valance. You beat an Eclipse ship at roughly 200,351 strength and then clear 10 hostiles of level 28 or higher. The reward is 244,000 Tritanium, 23 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups and a 1 Day Peace Shield, and completing it unlocks Hold Fast.
A Sleeping Giant objectives
The story line is “Defend the Outlaw bases from Eclipse.” There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Get to Ro’s Base. Location: Kuzukoh.
- Defeat the Eclipse Ship. Location: Kuzukoh. Enemy strength is roughly 200,351.
- Get to Goon’s Base. Location: Valance.
- Defeat 10 Hostiles of Level 28 or Higher.
The first half is at Ro’s base in Kuzukoh, where a single Eclipse ship is the target. The second half moves to Goon’s base in Valance, and instead of one named enemy you need 10 kills against hostiles of level 28 or higher. No system is attached to that last objective in the mission data, and there is no return-to-station step after it.
Where and what warp
A Sleeping Giant can be accepted at warp 1 and needs warp 24 to complete. Kuzukoh and Valance are the two named systems, and both are Rogue systems that also feature in the other Ro missions at this level.
The recommended level is 29. The Eclipse ship at about 200,351 and a batch of level 28 or higher hostiles fit a combat ship at roughly that level.
A Sleeping Giant rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Tritanium | 244,000 |
| 15 Minute Repair Speed Up | 23 |
| 1 Day Peace Shield | 1 |
Completing A Sleeping Giant also unlocks Hold Fast.
The 23 repair speed ups add up to 5 hours and 45 minutes of repair time, which suits a mission built around 11 fights. The peace shield is the one reward you cannot produce yourself.
How it compares with the other Ro missions
Three Ro missions share level 29 and warp 24, and A Sleeping Giant is the one with the most fighting.
| Mission | Systems | Fights | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chip Off The Block | Kuzukoh, Valance | Blackmailer (about 204,300) and Goon (about 200,351) | 15 Latinum, 1 Day Peace Shield |
| A Snake in the Grass | Exchange Gamma, Kuzukoh | One guard, about 200,351 | 213,000 Tritanium, 43,000 Dilithium |
| A Sleeping Giant | Kuzukoh, Valance | Eclipse ship (about 200,351) plus 10 hostiles of level 28 or higher | 244,000 Tritanium, 23 15 Minute Repair Speed Up, 1 Day Peace Shield |
It pays the most Tritanium of the three and is the only one with repair speed ups.
Tips
Budget time for the hostile kills. The Eclipse ship is one fight, but 10 hostiles of level 28 or higher is a grind, and it is the step most likely to take the longest.
Keep your ship topped up between kills. Ten fights in a row wear down a hull, and the 23 repair speed ups only arrive at the end, so plan to repair during the grind as needed.
Save the peace shield for a time you will be offline. A full day of protection is worth more used deliberately than spent the moment it arrives.
Hold Fast is next in the storyline. Every other mission by level is on the mission guide.
