A Moral Compass is a Star Trek Fleet Command story mission where you work with the Enterprise to find the Vi’dar. It opens at warp 1, needs warp 13 to complete, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. You collect Vella from your station, fight a ship called the D3 in Vindemiatrix at roughly 305,058 strength, then track a ship to Coridan. The reward is 250 3★ Common Refined Crystal, and finishing it unlocks And the Skies Will Darken.

A Moral Compass objectives

There are five objectives and no choice split:

  • Return to your Station and collect Vella.
  • Go to the test site in Vindemiatrix. Location: Vindemiatrix.
  • Defeat the D3. Location: Vindemiatrix. Enemy strength is roughly 305,058.
  • Track the ship. Location: Coridan.
  • Return to your Station.

The mission starts at home. You pick up Vella from your station before heading to the test site in Vindemiatrix.

The D3 is waiting there, and it is the only fight in the mission. At about 305,058 strength it is much tougher than the warp 13 finish suggests, so do not treat the recommended level of 1 as a guide. Once it is down, you track the ship to Coridan and then return to your station to finish.

Where and what warp

A Moral Compass can be accepted at warp 1 and no pickup system is named. Completing it needs warp 13 for the trips to Vindemiatrix and Coridan.

The recommended level is listed as 1. The D3 is the real bar: you need a ship that can win a fight at roughly 305,000 strength before the mission can move on to Coridan.

A Moral Compass rewards

The mission pays 250 3★ Common Refined Crystal. Completing it also unlocks And the Skies Will Darken.

A Moral Compass and its neighbours

A Moral Compass follows Flashbacks, where you answer a distress call from a Vulcan fleet, and leads into And the Skies Will Darken, where you investigate a disturbance in Romulan space. Current game data:

Mission Warp to complete Fights Rewards
Flashbacks 18 15 hostiles of level 26 or higher 50 3★ Uncommon Refined Crystal
A Moral Compass 13 The D3, about 305,058 250 3★ Common Refined Crystal
And the Skies Will Darken 13 A Borg probe at about 347,055 on one path, none on the other 500 Ultra Recruit Token, or 6 8 Hour Speed Up and 14 30 Minute Repair Speed Up

Flashbacks also asks for a 75,000 Dilithium donation. A Moral Compass drops the warp needed back to 13, but its one fight is still around 305,000 strength.

And the Skies Will Darken ends with a choice about the incoming Borg. Disabling the probe means a fight close to the D3’s strength, while the other option skips combat entirely.

Tips

Dock before you leave. The first objective sends you back to your station anyway, so repair while you are there and head to Vindemiatrix with full health.

Crew for one hard fight. The D3 is the only combat, so there is no need to plan for back-to-back battles.

The 250 3★ Common Refined Crystal is a useful stack for upgrades that call for refined crystal. More missions by level are on the mission guide.
