Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 21

Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 21 is a station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with a single objective: raise your Shipyard to level 21. It needs only warp 1 to start and finish, and the game lists a recommended level of 1, so the building upgrade is the only real requirement. The reward is 30,000 Tritanium, and completing it unlocks Upgrade Operations to Level 22. It pays you back a little for an upgrade you would make anyway.

Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 21 objectives

The story line for this mission says to upgrade the Shipyard to gain access to new and more powerful ships. There is one objective and no choice split:

  • Upgrade the Shipyard to Level 21.

No system is named, no hostile is listed and nothing is donated. The mission clears when the Shipyard finishes its upgrade to level 21.

Where and what warp

Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. Everything happens on your station, so no ship has to leave dock.

The recommended level is listed as 1, but the mission only completes once Shipyard 21 is built. Whatever that upgrade needs from your other buildings is the actual gate.

Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 21 rewards

The mission pays 30,000 Tritanium. Completing it also unlocks the next mission in the station chain, Upgrade Operations to Level 22.

How Level 21 compares with nearby Shipyard missions

Each Shipyard level from the high teens onward has its own mission, and the Tritanium payout climbs steeply. Current game data:

Mission Tritanium reward
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 19 12,000
Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 21 30,000
Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 22 50,000
Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 23 80,000
Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 24 150,000
Upgrade the Shipyard: Level 25 250,000

Level 21 pays two and a half times what Level 19 does, and each step after it pays more again. By Level 25 the reward is more than eight times the Level 21 amount, so the early Shipyard missions in the twenties are small on their own and add up quickly.

Where it sits in the station chain

This mission is one link in the chain of station upgrade missions, and it alternates with the Operations missions. It comes after Upgrade Operations to Level 21, which pays 50,000 Tritanium, and it leads into Upgrade Operations to Level 22, which pays 100,000 Tritanium. Both of those also need only warp 1.

What the Shipyard gives you

The game describes the Shipyard as the building for ship construction. Each upgrade raises two buffs, Ship Construction Speed and Tier Up Speed. At Shipyard 20 both sit at 36%, and at Shipyard 25 both reach 51%, so the step to 21 is part of that climb.

Tips

Put the Tritanium toward the next upgrade. The chain moves straight on to Operations 22, and a 30,000 Tritanium top-up helps at this stage of the game.

If you are stuck at Shipyard 20, check the requirements on the upgrade screen rather than waiting on this mission. The mission itself has no extra conditions, so it completes the moment the building does.

Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
