Upgrade Shipyard: Level 5 is an early station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with one objective: raise the Shipyard to level 5. It needs only warp 1 to start and finish, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 125 Tritanium, and finishing it unlocks Upgrade R&D Department to Level 6. The upgrade costs 1,750 Parsteel and 26 minutes, so this is one of the quickest missions to clear.
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 5 objectives
The story line says to upgrade the Shipyard to gain access to new and more powerful ships. There is a single objective and no choice split:
- Upgrade Shipyard to Level 5.
No system, hostile or donation is involved. The mission completes as soon as the upgrade finishes.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 to start, warp 1 to complete, and no pickup system. The whole mission happens on your station.
The recommended level is 1. The upgrade and its requirements are the only gate.
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 5 rewards
The mission pays 125 Tritanium. Completing it also unlocks the next station mission, Upgrade R&D Department to Level 6.
What Shipyard level 5 costs and gives
| Shipyard level 5 | Current game data |
|---|---|
| Cost | 1,750 Parsteel |
| Build time | 26 minutes |
| Requirements | Operations 6, R&D Department 5 |
| Ship Construction Speed | 6% |
| Tier Up Speed | 6% |
The two bonuses rise with every Shipyard level. They start at 3% at level 2, reach 6% here, and climb to 14% by level 10.
The requirements explain where this mission sits. The mission before it asks you to upgrade the R&D Department to level 5, which is exactly what Shipyard 5 needs. Shipyard 5 in turn is required by the Refinery and the Scrapyard for their own level 5, together with Operations 5.
How Level 5 compares with nearby steps
| Mission | Tritanium |
|---|---|
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 4 | 100 |
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 5 | 125 |
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 6 | 150 |
The Tritanium rises by 25 per step through this range. The jump gets steeper later on: by Level 10 the Shipyard mission pays 500 Tritanium.
Upgrade costs climb faster than the rewards. Shipyard 10 costs 150 Tritanium and 10,000 Parsteel, takes 3 hours 20 minutes, and needs Operations 10 and R&D Department 10. Level 5 at 26 minutes is still in the range where you can finish the upgrade in one sitting.
Tips
Do R&D first. If the upgrade button is greyed out, check the R&D Department. It must be at level 5, and the previous mission in the chain walks you there.
Keep the Tritanium for Operations. Operations 7 costs 70 Tritanium and Operations 8 costs 100, so small Tritanium rewards like this one cover those early Operations upgrades.
The mission before this one is Upgrade R&D Department to Level 5, and the next is Upgrade R&D Department to Level 6. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
